Milatos is a small and charming town on the mountainous island of Crete, Greece. It is located 45 kilometers east of Heraklion where you will also find the nearest airport. Milatos is split into two sections, Milatos beach, a fishing port with a small beach and good fish tavernas and Milatos village, which is located about 1 kilometer inland with narrow streets and many old style homes. Many homes have been refurbished and offer lodging, accommodations, villas, vacation rentals, condo rentals, villa rentals and apartment rentals.

The town is located away from the main roads, so you will find few tourists here. Here in this sleepy town surrounded by olive trees, you will find white painted stone houses, fruit trees, beautiful flowers and many cats that roam around and enjoy the sun. Your accommodation, vacation rental, condo rental, villa rental or apartment rental will be perfectly relaxing. Although the beach is not spectacular, you will find a gravel road along the ocean connecting to the town of Sisi. Along this road you will find 3 more beaches complete with sun chairs and umbrellas. All of this is just a short walk from your accommodation, vacation rental, villa rental or apartment rental.

You might be surprised to find that the surrounding area has many hiking trails, caves, and ideal snorkeling locations as well as other water sports like water-skiing, wind surfing, canoeing and speed boating. Milatos cave is nearby and both Idaion Antro and Diktaion Antro, considered to be the birthplace of Zeus, are a short drive away. For the experienced rock climber, a trip to Ha Gorge is a must. For more history and culture, visit the Malia archaeological site, or the monastery Saint George of Selinaris. Although the house isn't situated in front of the sea, its location is very competitive, because it combines simultaneously easy access to the beach and the grocery and the public bus service. The region, where the house situated, is flat with a large area of agricultural land between the sea and the mountain of Penteli. The location of the house offers easy access to the nearest beach by bicycle, cycling on a flat area. (about 15 min for 2.2Km). Marathon beach is about 12km long, mostly sandy and deepens smoothly. In this way, it is ideal and safe for children. The seawater is clean and enjoyable, especially in the morning. Swimming at the beach is free of charge. Nevertheless, you can find beach bars, which offer sun lounges and umbrellas, pricing the refreshments or beverages you order. On the east side of the coast, about 10 km far from the house, located the beach named Schinias. This beautiful beach offers a combination of sea and pine forests. There is a great offer for water sports too. On the south side of the coast located the beach of Nea Makri. This beach is very beautiful conformed to the palm tree garden. Here, you can find many cafés, restaurants, taverns and music bars. Remarkable is the easy access to the public bus service. The bus stop is about 400 m away from the house. There is a daily bus service to Athens city center and return, every hour, from 6.00 am to 10.00 pm. Of course in Athens offers many famous places to visit and a lot of walk-in to feel the life of this city. If you have more time and a car, it is very interesting to visit the Temple of Poseidon in Sounion (Attica region), the ancient area of Delphi, the Rocks of Meteora or you can the ferry from Rafina Port to Andros Island and the ferry from Agia Marina Port to south Evia Island.
