Uruguay,
South America, has a South Atlantic Ocean coastline and lies
between Argentina to the west and Brazil to the north. It is the second-smallest country in South America. This country has a rich agricultural and civic history with many
local goings-on and has a range of accommodations and lodging options. From spacious vacation rentals to cozier condo rentals and apartment rentals.
The county
consists of four distinct regions. The Atlantic Coast, featuring the towns of Cabo Polonio, Chuy, La Paloma, Punta del Diablo, Piriapolis and
Punta del Este has great beach resorts fronting the Atlantic and a land crossing to Brazil. Rio de la Plata (with towns
Montevideo and
Colonia) offer old colonial magnificence and a ferry crossing to Argentina. The
Northern Interior with towns; Paysandu, Salto and Tacuarembo have a Gaucho culture, land crossings to Argentina and citrus growing farms. The Central Interior (featuring
Durazno) is focused on
agriculture, has huge dams on the
Rio Negro and land crossings to Brazil.
All visitors to Uruguay will find many accommodation, apartment rental and vacation rental options located in and around its many wonderful natural sites.
Prominent departments of the North include Montevideo which has the country’s capital city,
Montevideo, San Jose, Canelones and Maldonado. Each department has variety of towns; each offering many traditional accommodations, vacation rental and apartment rental choices is just a few of the features of this department.
The South is also
home of the very famous Punte del Este. It is a cross between
Miami and
Ibiza, the glitzy beach resort of Punta del Este is a couple of hours' drive east of the capital, where the Rio de la Plata becomes the Atlantic Ocean. It is a beach resort constructed for the display of wealth, beauty and brazen self-confidence, and you are likely to run into TV stars and politicians. North of here, a 200km strip of sand lines the coast all the way to the Brazilian border. Many of the
beaches are isolated and unexplored. Near
Rocha, an hour's drive up the northern highway, roads lead off to several resort towns, all very different in character, including beautiful La Pedrera, La Paloma, hippy Cabo Polonio and the pretty Punta del Diablo.
South Uruguay is an
beautiful and exotic destination and it offers a whole range of tourism attractions and a range of accommodation options from apartment rentals and vacation rentals to suit all budgets and tastes.
