The Villa is a short cycle or walk to the labyrinth of winding country lanes of the surrounding and all-embracing Valle d’Itria. If tempted, a vehicle ride brings you the outlying boroughs towards the baroque town of Martina Franca, the white wine headquarters of Locorotondo, the often overlooked (but please don’t!) Ceglie Messapica and the great ‘White Town’ of Ostuni. There is much to explore further afield, our Guide Michele, suggests visiting the spectacular sights of perhaps the octagonal shaped Castle ‘Castel del Monte’, built by King Frederick the II in the 1300s; Gravina in Puglia where the iconic 007 made his grand leap off the Roman bridge; Matera – a fascinating complex of cave dwellings; the port and riviera of fine restaurants in Trani; the sweeping views and charming old town of Otranto, and one of our favourite cities of all Italy, Lecce, need we say more….. The Interiors The semi-openair dining room is a natural viewpoint from which to observe one room to another or overlook the elongated poolside.The Villa has bold, strong lines, highly fucntional with a modern elegance. A practical kitchen, adjacent to the dining room, is well-organised, with large fridge, oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, equipped for fesivities and small company. It connects to the backyard through French double-glazed windows and the breakfast patio. The lounge, that celebrates light and nature, is comfortable and contemporary, furnished with a sofa and smart working corner. A perfect place for curling up with a book after a long day outdoors exploring. Two bedrooms, each with their own private shower room, one accommodating a double bed, the second a french sized double, with soft spirited colouring and cooling fabrics. Exteriors A covered breakfast terrace flanks the dining room, with views over the poolside, not with mentioning the extraordinary back drop created by the white terraced village of Cisternino, in the distance. Original 12 cone stone built Trullo set on 5 acres of private 150 year old olive grove, Trullo was totally rebuilt and modernised, 500k renovation, without losing the originality. Big mosaic tiled infinity edge pool, 1 to 2 Mtrs. Deep, 6x12.5 Mtrs, 3Mtrs. Kids pool at shallow end, (your not allowed to build them this big anymore), we designed our pool for our kids safety, no sharp edges throughout, deep enough to jump in at the deep end, 3 bedrooms all en-suite, big Kitchen with all mod cons, water from our own modern well, property is private and not overlooked at any point. The King Room is located inside the convent of San Francesco da Paola, where there is a cloister of 1582. The structure inside the convent provides 6 rooms for hospitality. Located in the hamlet of San Francesco, the Relais is about 800 meters from the square of massalubrense and in less than 10 minutes by car you can reach the city of Sorrento. Reference point for trekking walks, from the Relais you can reach Sorrento in 30 minutes of walking on foot for a beautiful path. On foot you can also reach the village of Acquara, Sant'Agata sui due Golfi, Marina della Lobra and also that Santa Maria Annunziata, where a splendid Villa di Gioacchino Murat will welcome you with an enchanting view of Capri. The most beautiful beaches near the Relais are: Baia delle Sirene (5 minutes by car), the Conca Azzurra (5 minutes by car), Marina di Puolo (5 minutes by car), Marciano (7 minutes by car), Nerano (15 minutes by car), of Lobra (10 minutes walk). For all your needs and support the staff of the Relais will be at your disposal. To reach the Relais, just reach the Piazza di Massalubrense and go left, after 700 meters you will find the signs for San Francesco. The cloister has a long history, and was closed for about 100 years by the will of Joseph Bonaparte (brother of Napoleon) before the priests came into possession. It has been a place of relaxation for many historical figures. The King Room consists of a bedroom at the entrance with sofa couch for two guests with television and wi-fi. The second double bedroom with French bed, provides TV, bathroom, a desk for ladies. There is an air conditioning unit that refreshes the two rooms. Ideal for families with children, there is also a beautiful terrace from which you can admire Capri Ischia and Naples. Just north of here is Fasano, a labryinth of alleyways, noble palaces and small churches; and a short distance to the Egnazia Archeological Site, which has huge historical value. Inside Trullo D’Amare The bedroom space at Trullo d'Amare, a double and a twin, is calm and intimate with bare amber coloured stone walls and mellow cotton furnishings. The bedrooms maintain a discreet but secure distance, making it ideal for a young family. Central to Trullo d’Amare, is a welcoming cosy seating area with direct access to the poolside, decorated with odd objects bearing the signature of the hosts. From here, the passageway is claimed by the elongated kitchen which communicates the shower and utility room to the outside the gazebo, which functions as a summer salon. Outside Trullo d’Amare The trullo was acquired to provide refreshment, rest and beauty. Its contours and roundness by day are visible and clear against the blueness of the sky. At nightime, the trullo takes on a different energy, a place to enjoy the sunsets that posture upon the horizon, everything takes on a new light, like a painting.

The 500 km historic and original water system construction brought water to Puglia from Caposele in the early 20th century from the province of Avellino in the Campania district and runs through the Valle d’itria connecting the local towns.
