Tereglio is a medieval village built in the mid-10th century along a high, narrow ridge in the heart of the Tuscan Alps.
The surrounding countryside has plenty of activities to offer - wonderful walks within the Garfagnana national parks, horse riding, mountain biking or simple pampering in the nearby spa town of Bagni di Lucca
(less than 15 km away). The coast, Pisa, Florence and of course Lucca itself are all within easy reach for a day's outing.

Barga, 20km north is set in the beautiful mountainous northwest corner of Tuscany, this medieval city is situated on a spur overlooking the mid-Serchio River Valley.
In it's heyday, was a stronghold of The Medici's Florence. Barga is nevertheless on the edge of the wilds of the Garfagnana, "land of wolves and outlaws" otherwise known for vast chestnut forests, wild boar, delicious pecorino cheeses and porcini mushrooms. Barga adds to this a rich cultural life of summer jazz and opera festivals, regular international contemporary art exhibitions, outdoor markets, and a gem like theater founded in 1688

Parco Regionale delle Alpi Apuane, 48km west was established in 1985 in the province of Lucca and Massa this park has an enormous space of nearly 21000 hectares
and the artistry is spread across every inch and corner of the entire place. Often called as the park of the marble mountain it forms the grand backdrop of the beautiful Versilia beaches.
