Virgin Islands Campground
St. Thomas: Island style cottageStudio • 0 BA • Sleeps 4 • #123119154 to 277 USD/nightAn eco-sensitive resort with self-contained tent-cottages, Virgin Islands Camp is set on pristine 500-acre Water Island, U. S. Virgin Islands. Located just outside the picturesque Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas Harbor. Regular ferry service (7 min. Ride) makes it convenient to shopping, dining and activities in St. Thomas. Know for its natural charm, Water Island is secluded with a unique history. Each cabin boasts an ocean view and is a five-minute walk to the beach. The handful of roomy tent-cabins each having their own private terrace. The Pavillion The shared community Pavilion has the grill, picnic tables and each cottage has their private set of dishes. It is here where you will do all of your cooking. It is outfitted with two full-sized refrigerators, and ample storage cabinets for all of your dry goods. Each guest gets a set of dishes, cups, mugs, utensils and all cooking supplies for creating magnificent home cooked meals. There is a gas grill, coffee maker, stove top and unlimited filtered water. The large picnic table makes it a great spot for socializing with your fellow lodgers, sharing an snack, sipping on a glass of wine as you watch the sunset over the Caribbean or playing a game of cards. No food goes to waste here. Guests pass along leftovers groceries upon leaving and there is also a storage bin full of spices, oils, and coffee. Some wonder how they will feel about sharing their dining and communal area with strangers. That concern vanishes as the new guests are quickly absorbed into the group. Guests share secret snorkeling locations, day-trip experiences and sometimes even a massive avocado that they picked up on a grocery run to St. Thomas. The Bathhouse Located only steps from your eco-cottages you will find the bathhouse with modern and clean facilities for washing and showering. Keeping with the desire to be low impact the water for the sinks and showers is captured rainwater and heated by solar energy. The toilets use both composting and gray water systems and are very clean. This is not a typical campground bathhouse. Being green doesn’t mean you need to give up comfort and cleanliness. The Communications Room We know you came here to get away from it all but sometimes being “off the grid” can add to the stress of your vacation. We hope you leave your work and worries behind when you visit us on Water Island but if you do have to take care of a few things while you are here, having an quiet office overlooking the Caribbean should keep you smiling through it all. Here we provide wireless internet access, a satellite television, a dvd player and movies, as well as a phone if you need to connect to the outside world. Come sit at our desk or cozy up on our couch. We want to help you unplug or plug in – or a little of both. Note: Long distance charges are done via calling cards but wireless internet and satellite TV are free to all guests. -
