Are you looking for a vacation rental home in Waipio Valley, Big Island, Hawaii, United States? Accommodations are available through Owner Direct. Known for its tranquil beauty and isolation, Waipio is 6 miles long and 1 mile wide on the north shore of the Big Island. Bounded by 2,000-foot cliffs, the Valley of the Kings, was once a favorite retreat of Hawaiian royalty. Waterfalls drop 1,200 feet from the Kohala Mountains to the valley floor.

One of the few remaining places in Hawaii to see a black sand beach, Waipio Valley has a nice stretch of almost unused beach. Perhaps the reason is that it takes a 4WD truck to get down there.

Rent holiday lodging directly from owners of Hawaiian villas and condo accommodations. Owner Direct can supply all your accommodation requirements in vacation rentals.

Waterfalls frame the landscape, but the valley has become one of the most isolated places in the state. The walk down into the valley is less than a mile, but keep in mind, the climb back up is strenuous in the hot sun. A crescent of black sand makes it a popular spot for surfers.

The Waipio Valley Lookout, is about a 45 minute round-trip drive off the highway. There is a paved 4WD road that goes down into the valley, but not recommended unless you are with a local or a tourist group. For most folks, a stopover at the Lookout is enough. The sheer cliff can induce some decent vertigo effects. Definitely bring the camera.

Accommodation options in the Waipio Valley are condo rentals, home vacation rentals, villas and cabins.
