France Accommodation - Country style house - 1500 sq ft / 139 sq m
Set high on a hill overlooking the valley and a fairy tale castle, our ancient ivy-covered converted barn, circa 1800, offers the charm and romance of yesteryear, yet the conveniences of life today.
Be spoiled by the choices and surroundings of the Lot ET
Garonne, known as the Tuscany of France, and the nearby Bastide village of Monflanquin, voted one of the most beautiful towns of south west France,
Every day a new adventure awaits; Be it exploring the local markets, wine tasting at local vineyards, exploring 13th century towns, exploring local caves, walking in the footsteps of the Templars, painting the same bridge that the impressionist painter Monet captured in his Water Lilies canvas, kayaking down the Dordogne river...Or perhaps just vegging out and enjoying a few glasses of wine on the terrace after a memorable day.
Of course no visit is complete without enjoying our French cuisine; a local bistro with a fixed menu, a sophisticated restaurant overlooking a spectacular view, a local night market that offers an evening of live entertainment, local fare and inexpensive wine. Or maybe pack a picnic and explore our back roads where many beautiful castles and chateaux are waiting to be drawn or photographed.
The scenery is breathtaking and ever changing....Winding and hilly roads, tranquil forests, festivals, markets, picturesque ruins of the past, ancient towns and villages all make up the tapestry of life here in our little corner of the world. Come to see it yourself.
You will be immersed in an area that hints of the past, and our home embraces and replicates that ambiance, albeit from different areas of the world. Our furniture is eclectic and comfortable mixed in with antiques and relics we have picked up traveling throughout the world.
The atmosphere is relaxed and sophisticated yet relaxing as in an old French farmhouse.
The kitchen is new but looks authentic set amidst the original hand hewn ceiling beams, and the floors range from the original stone tiles to luxurious high gloss ceramic.
The open living room/kitchen encourages great conversations while preparing a meal or snack and on cool evenings, enjoy a roaring fire in the log fireplace.
The master bedroom is charming and boasts a canopy bed. Your private bathroom is adjacent and is for your sole use.
The second bedroom is located in another private area of the house, and has its own ensuite facilities.
Since it was originally a barn, circa 1800, the layout is a bit unusual. It is tucked away behind wrought iron gates and overlooks the valley. Two covered terraces offer a cool refuge from the summers hot sun and is the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee or have a good read.
The lower terrace invites you to sit and relax, have a leisurely BBQ and dwell in the time you are making just for yourselves, far from the madding crowd.
When you go back home you will remember these moments, a mixture of past and present, of nature, harmony and peace.
