Some suggestions to enjoy your stay :
1/ Discover the vineyards of Bordeaux :
In a radius of 80 KM from home you can visit the most wellknown Chateaux of the vineyard of Medoc, St Emilion, Pomerol, and Sauterne. But don't forget you are just in the middle of the vinyard of Côtes DE Blaye and Côtes DE Bourg where you can also visit
2/ Visit Bordeaux listed a UNESCO World Heritage Site !
It is a recognition of our city's value and historic unity. Bordeaux has more than 350 classified buildings and buildings listed as Historic Monuments, including 3 religious World Heritage buildings since 1998 as part of the Routes of Santiago DE Compostela in France.
3/Cross the Gironde Europe’s largest estuary
With a surface area of 600 KM² and a width of 3 to 12 KM, the Gironde Estuary is the largest in Europe and the best protected. Take the ferry boat in Blaye (crossings about 30 minutes long) and visit the vineyard of Medoc or drive to the Atlantic beaches (60 KM West).
4/ Enjoy the sea and the Great Dune of Pilat at the entrance to the Arcachon Basin(120 KM South West) Rising 107 metres above sea level, it is the highest dune in Europe, “one of nature’s masterpieces”, “jewel of the Basin”, “majestic” – there is certainly no lack of superlatives regarding the Great Dune of Pilat
5/ Drive to Dordogne and Perigord (150 KM East):
Home first to prehistoric man and later to the Gauls, Romans and Franks, each of whom left the stamp of their respective civilisations. The Dordogne banks are a thousand and one castles steeped in legend, witness to centuries of conquests and the intermixing of cultures
6/ Stay in the Plassac area and discover the surroundings :
- Antique Italy in Plassac (5 minutes walk)
- The citadel of Blaye XVII Century (3 KM from home)
- The cave of Pair-non-Pair : (15 minutes by car)
7/ At least, if you have enough time, you can drive to Côte Basque (200km) and visit Biarritz
