A vehicle is required to drive (about 30 minutes) to the parking lot of the Mount Washington ski resort. The walk from the parking lot to the lift takes 3 minutes. You can ski back to your vehicle.

If you want to relax in a tastefully decorated home right on the beach, this is the house for you. We spent many hours on the wooden deck that stretches the length of the house and in the gazebo watching the boats and wildlife go by. Inside is just as nice (much nicer than the photos can show), with upgraded appliances and upscale furnishings you would not normally expect at a beach house, with plenty of seating and areas to read or chat.

Close to Courtenay and Comox, we found it the perfect location for exploring the middle and upper half of Vancouver Island. Plenty of kitchen gadgets and cookware, as well as seating inside and out for meals. The two larger bedrooms are nicely furnished although the third one is much smaller but OK for an extra guest or child. Definitely visit the Visitor's Center for touring and restaurant ideas and discount tickets for Mt Washington. We enjoyed visiting the You Pick blueberries, the Blue Moon winery, the paleontology museum, taking a chair lift at Mt Washington and both the Saturday and Wednesday Farmers Markets. Lots of places to buy groceries in Courtneay, and Edible Islands is a nice health food store. Good food at Michaels Off Main (Courtenay – locals breakfast, nice deli next door) as well as Twisted Dishes (Comox – casual healthy food) and Blackfin Pub (Comox – pricier seafood).
