Exploring Tribal Treasures ------ Watching a shard of sunlight filtering through the swirling mist of a thundering waterfall makes it easy to fathom why, centuries ago, Native Americans built thriving communities in Palm Springs' famed Indian Canyons. They knew prime real estate when they saw it. Shady palm oases and ice-cold streams to stay cool in summer. Bubbling hot springs nearby to relieve the chill of a winter's night. Not to mention the abundant desert flora and fauna that the Indians transformed into food, clothing, medicine, utensils, as well as textiles, pottery and baskets displaying the highest caliber of craftsmanship. Today, the descendants of these industrious tribes meticulously and proudly preserve the traditions and ceremonies of their heritage.
