We were looking for a relaxing, trouble-free, family-friendly holiday that would be fun for us and for or two children (2 years and 5 months). We found this listing online and booked it for two weeks at the end of August, early September.

The condo: The condo sleeps four (two adults, two children) in very comfortable beds, in two spacious bedrooms. There is adequate closet space. At night, we would fall asleep to the sounds of the waves and of crickets in the lagoon. The kitchen allowed us to make our own food, which saved us money and gave us some control over our children's nutrition during the holiday. It includes dishwasher, laundry machine, espresso machine and a toaster. It also has some basic cooking gear (a pot, a frying pan, dishes and utensils, a few knives that could have been a little sharper). There is a living-dining area which provided space for the children to play. There is a beautiful view of the pool from the living room. We didn't use the laundry machine or the dishwasher during our stay so we can't attest to their condition, but would expect that they are in excellent working order.

The unit itself is luxurious, clean and well-maintained. The staff is very responsive and accommodating for requests such as for extra towels, housekeeping and laundry services and for other enquiries we had during our stay. Housekeeping costs $65 which includes washing dishes.

Wifi is available at the beach bar and wired/wireless router was installed in the condo upon request. It is a basic DSL line, which is fast enough for casual browsing and skype, but slow for watching Youtube videos. They installed it in the master bedroom, but we used extension cords to move it to the living room to get better reception. (Wifi doesn't go through the concrete walls of the condo.)

Utilities are extra. We were careful in how we used the AC in the 2 bedrooms as we were told that it could cost $200 per week or more for electricity. We ran the air conditioning at night and during the children's naps, and in the end, we paid $160 for the two weeks. We shut the breakers for the AC units when not in use and adjusted the temperature to a reasonable 77°F (they had it to 55°F when we arrived). We had the ceiling fan in the living room on the whole time.

For kids: The resort provides cribs and bedding for the children as well as high chairs and baby baths. The pool area has a kiddie pool with about 12" of water for little ones who don't swim yet. The resort has a Kid's Club staffed with friendly, competent child minders. Joan genuinely loves working with kids and made my little ones feel special. Beach toys are available to borrow as well.

Restaurants: When we chose not to cook, we ordered most of our food from the Beach Bar. The food is good but a little pricey. Here again, the staff is wonderful and gave excellent service. My husband and I were able to eat while my son ran around on the beach, but most of the time, we had our meals delivered to the condo.

Piano Piano: We did not have an opportunity to eat at that restaurant. We ordered from there on our first night because the Beach Bar was closed. The food was good, but expensive.

Bruscetta's: they make good coffee, pastries and sandwiches and stock stuff that you would typically find in a convenience store (cereal, toothpaste, junk food) and things you generally don't (garlic, surprisingly good wine). However, there is more than a little irony in a lunch place that closes down between 11:30 and 12:30. We ordered a cake for my son's birthday from here. It was absolutely delicious.

The beach / the pool: The beach is beautiful but a little rustic (there was some seaweed, but they clean up the beach every morning). It is not crowded and has a cool "off the beaten path" feel to it. There are only small waves and no undertow - again, great for the little ones.

Marjorie's is a little restaurant down on the beach, which is not affiliated with the resort, from which delicious local fare can be found. While you are there, you can check out a piece of an Ariane rocket that landed in St-Lucia in the 90's.

The pool is beautiful, clean and refreshing. There is a pool bar that serves drinks and from which food can also be ordered. The staff there was excellent.

Other: We communicated with the owner by email and by phone. She was extremely helpful, responding quickly and thoroughly to our questions and liaised with the resort on our behalf as needed, prior to our arrival. She also responded promptly to emails once we arrived. At the resort, we dealt directly with the concierge, which made it easier for us and the owner.

The resort offers a free shuttle to town two times per week, enabling guests to do groceries and run errands. They also provide towels, beach towels, linens, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, garbage bags, mosquito nets, etc.

Transportation: It cost 85$ each way and takes 1.5 hour to and from the international airport in Vieux Fort.

Electricity: 220/240V, UK socket. There are 4 North American 110/120V outlets in each bedroom. You can borrow extension cords from the resort.

Food and baby stuff is expensive in St. Lucia, double what we pay in Canada. So, if you can, bring with you what you'll need during you stay (e.g. diapers, formula, sunscreen lotion, insect repellent, etc.)

My husband went for a massage at the spa. He said it was the best massage he'd ever had. The price was very reasonable.

Overall: We have been actively recommending this resort to our family and friends. It exceeded our expectations in every respect.

Up to four people can stay in this luxury 2 bedroom poolside condo in the small family-friendly, securely gated holiday village. This first-floor apartment has been designer-furnished with one king canopied bed and two single beds, 2 bathrooms and a well-equipped kitchen. Recently completely re-furbished, the apartment overlooks the 35 metre adult pool and shaded kids pool, with a private staircase to reach the pool in 30 seconds. Plenty of activities are on offer from kite surfing to golfing on the island's 18 hole golf course next door.

St Lucia is a jewel in the Caribbean, an English-speaking island where the friendly laid-back natives welcome visitors with open arms. The currency is pegged to the US Dollar and the climate is temperate year-round with a daily maximum of around 80 degrees F. The condo is on the east side of the island, where cooling sea breezes blow, and the apartment is air-conditioned.

There is an International jazz festival every May and musical events throughout the year. St Lucia's scenery is stunning, from the dramatic Piton mountains to the volcanic crater of Soufriere, (where you can dive into natural hot springs or a mud bath), the interior of the island is mainly rainforest, with hiking trails for the adventurous. The water in the Caribbean is quiet and clear, brilliant for diving or snorkeling. Sailing activities abound, with the sunset champagne cruise to the Pitons especially popular. Hire car recommended.

My housekeeper will meet you on arrival with the keys and the only extra costs will be the cleaning fee of $270 East Caribbean Dollars (2.7 ECD =1 USD) and the electricity, which is metered so you only pay for what you use. No local taxes to pay (usually 18%).

All linen is provided, including beach towels and basics to get you going such as tea, coffee, soap, dishwasher tablets, salt and pepper.
