Our private Villa offers the magic of an elegant home with panoramic views of the ocean, five miles of secluded beach, a kayak friendly mangrove estuary, and the absolute tranquility of rural Mexico. This area of Mexico is known as Riviera Nayarit. Many find it reminiscent of the "old Mexico", where horseback is still a common mode of transportation.
Our small resort community of Playa Las Tortugas (16 stylish homes) is only 70 miles north of Puerto Vallarta airport. However, it is a world apart from the bustling beaches and souvenir venders at Puerto Vallarta, Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerias and Sayulito.
Villa is located in a huge working coconut plantation, on a gorgeous, wide and secluded beach. Our locality enjoys some of the best weather on the Planet Earth. Entrée Magazine summed up this picturesque setting: ..... “ a gorgeous, coconut-producing plantation, an 1100-acre estuary teeming with exotic birds and a turtle camp protecting the endangered olive ridleys ..“ It is not an exaggeration to call Playa Las Tortugas the hidden gem of Riviera Nayarit.
The well appointed Villa provides all of the comforts of home. One of only two Tortugas homes that are fully air conditioned, the 1,750+ sq. Ft. Interior has ocean views and ocean sounds from every room. In addition, we have a 1,200 sq. Ft. Rooftop deck and a large 2nd floor balcony. The rooftop deck offers 360 degree ocean, mountain and jungle views. Some guests find the rooftop canopy bed to be a romantic setting for star gazing on balmy nights. Other rooftop amenities include a six burner gas grill, wet bar, dining table, and lounge chairs. The community pool is just steps from the Villa.
Kayak across the estuary to eat lunch at one of Platanitos’ sand floored, oceanfront restaurants. Enjoy a walk or a barefooted run on the practically uninhabited sand beach that goes on as far as the eye can see. The waves and pristine beach are great for boogie boards, surfers, and ocean kayaks. Volunteers can help the Turtle Camp preserve the endangered sea turtle population. In season, even small children can participate in the release of turtle hatchlings - sometimes 100’s in one evening. A local farmer provides a variety of beautiful horses for riding on the beach.
Two pools are steps away ... A large family pool and a 65 ft lap pool.
A Washington Post reporter called Playa Las Tortugas his “Shangri-La, the place I could recommend without reservation or caveat.” The well appointed Villa will provide comfort/ serenity and memories to last a lifetime.
