If you are coming to this beautiful part of Eastern Canada for the first time or returning "home" to visit loved ones, this character-filled home makes a great base. The ferry to PEI and all the summer music festivals is 15 minutes away. Halifax International Airport is 1 hr 15 minutes direct from the house and the causeway to world famous Cape Breton is an hours drive. The home itself is situated on a lush peninsula within walking distance to the nearest fishing harbour and 15 minutes drive to Melmerby Beach, one of the province's most beautiful. It is open and sunny with a large living room and dining room as well as 2 bedrooms on the main level. Built in the early 1700's, it's a mix of modern and historic with a new kitchen and 2 baths. It has retained the original wood floors and fireplaces as well as a ship ladder staircase to the second level and a 3rd spacious bedroom. Three outside decks complete the picture providing unforgettable views of the rolling countryside. The house is comfortably furnished and contains many interesting pieces of art and textiles from the Maritimes and Quebec. It sits on two landscaped acres with a privacy which encourages visits from local wildlife including deer, pheasant, foxes, etc. It is not uncommon to see the deer grazing right beside the decks in the morning. In the evening you may want to take in a musical event at the Pictou Art's Centre or just sit out and enjoy the stars and night sounds. The Owners warmly welcome you to enjoy the area while staying in their very special home.
