The house was built in 1931 for Llewellyn and Mary Paterson Rose, a young couple in the ranching and insurance business. Some 70 years later we bought the house. Now that we have moved on for a while we hope that you will enjoy it as much as we have. We are located approximately a 10 minute drive to town which is easy to get to while also offering serenity and peace from the hustle and bustle. If you are a golfer, you can grab your clubs and head over to the Palmilla Golf and Beach Resort just down the road. This course offers greens on both sides of the highway with a cart bridge connecting the two. The club has a Pro shop and snack bar available. The kitchen opens to the family room, with fireplace, TV, a table for six that can be used for casual dining or games, and a queen-sized sleeper sofa. The antique doors to the courtyard are reported to be from Alamo Village where John Wayne directed and starred in the movie “The Alamo “during the 60’s. The neighbors tell us John Wayne stayed at the house and played tennis here. This home truly is a find. You are in the heart of the Hill Country and although you will love the solitude, tennis, and swimming, there are great finds in the area. There are 18 Hill Country wineries, 5 microbreweries, and more than 8 public golf courses within a one hour drive (map provided). We recommend Spicewood Winery and Stone House Vineyard (6+ miles down the road). Bring home a bottle to enjoy on the back deck with stunning views from the pool. For horseback riding, enjoy a guided trail ride from Silver's Trails in Spicewood. Antique/collectible hunters will love Fredericksburg, one hour to the southwest.
