There is a large garden and a verandah. The cottage has its own gate, driveway and parking. It is fully fenced so it is a safe place for children to play. The garden is suitable for BBQs and is equipped with picnic tables. The great beach of Guincho is about a 12 minute walk . It is accessed by a new boardwalk over spectacular dunes. The view of the ocean and the Sintra mountains from the cottage and from the dunes is truly spectacular. Only a few minutes walk is a village which has restaurants, cafes and basic shopping. The location is excellent; Lisbon is 35 minutes, Sintra is 15 and Cascais is 7. We live on the same property - although completely independent - and we enjoy helping guests with suggestions and recommendations for shopping, excursions, restaurants, etc. Wine and coffee are offered with pleasure in our large garden. The cottage has a WiFi connection as well as many international TV channels. Guests are invited to use our phone through skype or VoIP in the event that they do not have their own facilities. The owner is American and a concert violinist who has traveled throughout the world and who enjoys relating stories of his travels and hearing stories from our guests. His spouse is Portuguese, knows the country very well and is eager to share her passion for flowers and her knowledge of Portuguese cuisine.

    In 16 acres of private property, you can make invigorating walks on the paths and trails through dense forest areas. While appreciating the resevoir dam lagoon Carrapatelo, on the Douro River, you can admire our free range Garrano horses. You can get to the Upper Douro Valley - the traditional Port Wine region - using the Douro Railway (10 min away). We are next to the mountains of Aboboreira, Montedeiras and Montemuro, close to the municipalities of Marco DE Canaveses, Baião and Cinfães, guests at the guesthouse are always two steps away from invaluable heritage landscaped culture. Porto is one hour away, Guimarães is just 40 minutes away. Around the guesthouse there is a large garden, perfect for reading a book in the hammock suspended under the orange trees, for playing with children or for preparing a barbecue at the end of the day … The house is provided daily with freshly baked bread, cheese, coffee, tea, hand-picked fruit, jams and other treats, so you can have breakfast at any time.
