Discover this unique getaway cottage, a pet-friendly home away from your home and an attractive alternative to conventional hotels, motels and B&B’s. We warmly welcome visitors who come to this beautiful and diverse area of Western Massachusetts with or without their companion animals. Since opening the cottage in January of 2012, I have welcomed more guests than I could possibly have predicted or hoped. It seems that the Cottage has answered a need for truly pet-friendly accommodations. I could tell you stories about the wonderful four-legged guests who have enjoyed country walks here, not to mention their terrific two-legged companions. I could not have imagined that I’d meet such a variety of interesting people when I opened the cottage this past winter. Nestled at the base of the Charlemont hills and located on a very quiet country road, the Cottage is spacious, bright and comfortable. The live-in area is simply but graciously appointed, featuring ceiling to floor windows, a queen size bed, private entrance and private deck. The fully equipped kitchen has an eat-in area with a full size stove and refrigerator (in case you want to cook-in), and a private bathroom. Relax on the private deck and enjoy the country view. For entertainment, you can access Netflix movies on your laptop, watch Direct TV with over 100 channels, or play classic board games. To stay in touch with the outside world, the cottage is equipped with WI-FI. Park your car in an enclosed garage if you need to. Amenities also include a delicious Continental breakfast with Pat’s English scones, a small but growing library, and a CD player with a collection of jazz and classical CD’s. The Cottage is conveniently located to the Mohawk Trail (Route 2) and many outdoor activities: There are great hiking trails, river rafting, tubing, zip line canopy tours, horseback riding, tennis, golf, biking, snow shoeing, rock climbing, downhill and X-country skiing. The beautiful Massachusetts countryside, with its many quaint villages and towns, is also home to a great variety of iconic educational and cultural destinations, including MassMoCa, the Clarke Institute of Art on the Williams College campus, and many more. The area is a four-season vacation destination, from foliage time in the autumn, through ski season into spring hiking time and summer holidays. Time here is sublimely tranquil and peaceful.

Sunday River News and Events

Sunday River
www.sundayriver.com

Located in the town of Bethel, a sophisticated, classic New England community, Sunday River is one of Maine's largest and most visited ski resorts. The resort features 135 trails across eight interconnected mountain peaks, and is serviced by a network of 16 lifts. It is home to eight mountains of great skiing and riding. With Snow Guarantee, Sunday River is the most dependable snow in New England! They are committed to making snow whenever Mother Nature lets up in her efforts. So not only is Sunday River able to make snow when some other resorts can't, they're willing to do so when others won't.

Annual Events Sunday River hosts all kinds of events throughout the year ranging from kids' activities to world-class competitions. Scroll down to see what's happening while you'll be visiting the resort, or to find something fun to plan a trip around.

Annual Santa Sunday (December): Celebrate the arrival of winter and the upcoming holiday season all while raising money for a good cause with Sunday River's very own Santa Sunday. Pre-registered Santas arrive to the resort in full attire and with a donation in hand in Santa Sunday at Sunday River Resort order to schuss down the lower slopes of South Ridge.

Maine Day (December): Sunday River and The Bank of Maine team up to offer Maine Day - an opportunity for Maine residents to ski and snowboard (or learn how) at special rates. Maine residents will have access to discounted tickets, equipment rentals, and ski or ride packages.

Christmas & New Year's Vacation Week (December 25 - January 1): Spend the holidays on the slopes this year! Holiday ski and stay packages include slopeside lodging, 12-hour lift tickets that include night skiing, and daily ski or snowboard clinics for Holiday powder dayages 15 and up.

Red Bull Frozen Rush (January): The Red Bull Frozen Rush redefines snow sports by bringing the only head-to-head offroad/on-snow truck race to Sunday River. 900-horsepower Pro4 trucks will defy wintry conditions and gravity as they rip figure eights, fly off jumps, and shred the snow on South Ridge. It's wild, crazy, and, at times, kinda scary, but it's also one helluva good show. This is the biggest, fastest event to ever hit Sunday River!

Children's Festival Week (January): Children's Festival Week is an entire week dedicated to families, with activities including scavenger hunts, live entertainment, movies, and themed Perfect Turn kids' clinics. Special evening performances are also scheduled and in the past have included fire dancers, a reptile show, and a mad science workshop. Best part about Children's Festival Week? Kids can ski, snowboard, rent, learn, and stay-all for free!

Go50 Week (January): Go50 Week is all about celebrating that guy who's put in 30 years as a high school math teacher and shreds on the weekends, the mom who skis bumps better than her college-aged kids, and the Sunday River lifer with an A-frame in Viking Village. It's about rejecting the armchair and embracing the chairlift. It's about saying, "Hey, age is just a number." Except that in this case, age is also a badge of honor. And, as such, it'll get you all kinds of sweet deals this week.
