Home Away From Home
We always stay at the same place when we visit. I prefer this particular condo BH 505 because you can see the ocean from your deck and the pool. They also extended the boardwalk and it takes you all the way to the ocean. I only wish it was more accommodating for larger families. The condo would be able to sleep more than 6, yet the maximum occupancy is 6. (We have six children.) The workers work hard to make sure the property is well maintained and clean.

Will definitely stay again!
I will most definitely be staying here again in the future! The condo was cute, clean, and there were plenty of beds, towels, and linens. The walk to the beach is a quick 3-5 minutes and it's on a boardwalk so you're not trudging through hot sand with all your stuff. They have an outdoor shower to hose off the sand before you go into your condo. The pool has an amazing pool house area with ping pong table and a kitchenette and lounge area, etc. Overall great stay and we will come back!

Beach Condo
Lovely time in Port Aransas. Condo was clean and welcoming. We were glad to see that the internet was running better by the end of the month. We had nearly four days with no heat and a water boil advisory that went for a week. We appreciated information keeping us up to speed. When one is a visitor to an area you really don't know where to go for help. It was difficult finding out initially in what was a scary time. The community of Port A was great with helping to feed those of us in need. Extra blankets are always appreciated in circumstances like this. The condo association has been making efforts to maintain the property. Loved the heated pool for those of us that are there in winter months.

Great view & quick walk to the beach.
Super comfy beachy decor condo for 6 guests. More than enough space for 6. Cute and functional kitchen with nice appliances. Love the parking right under the condo. Good size pool with nice view of ocean.

Loved it
This condo was perfect and just what we were looking for. So convenient to the beach and perfect for walks into town. We have stayed many places in Port A but this was the best. Annual trip
Close to the beach and clean. This is all that really matters and it’s both of those things. Lots of linens and plenty of dishes / Kitchen tools. The cellular service/ date and WiFi is bad but I think the whole island struggles with that. I didn’t realize there was no washer or dryer or garbage disposal Not a deal breaker but I’ll always confirm that future rentals have those Amenities. <br/>

A great escape!
My family came down to the coast for short get-a-way. The apartment was so comfortable and convenient! It had a view of the sea, and we could be down at the coast in minutes. We had a wonderful time!

Great getaway
We loved this condo! Our only complaint was we wish the living area had more seating so we<br/>Could sit comfortably! Loved the kitchen table - we played cards one evening! There were 32 stairs to climb which doesn't seem like a bunch until you've done it 50x. <br/><br/>Rent a cart to ride around town in - so much fun!!! Overall loved this place!

Best place to stay in Port Aransas!
Had a wonderful 3 days (too short)! It was great to relax with family and friends. The beach and water were perfect. Very clean beach!<br/>The condo was clean and neat. However, the refrigerator wasn't very cold during our stay. Other than that, I wouldn't hesitate to stay in Vista Del Mar again.<br/>We'll be back next summer for sure!

Great Beach house!
Out stay was great! The beach house was roomy and in a great location we loved having our own board walk to the beach and the view was amazing! The only bad thing was that the pool wasn’t open and we were never notified that it would be closed during our stay and we saw a few bugs in the house during our stay but overall it was a pretty good trip!!

SPRING BREAK 2018
The condo was completely furnished with all neccessesties for the kitchen bath which was great. Was very clean ... outside area was neat considering the other properties around us were still not clean up from Harvey but this location was fairly clean up outside..... Check in time would be so much better at 2:00 PM the 4PM is so late for the money you pay........

While I applaud efforts toward Harvey recovery, 505 property was not aligned with high per night fee. I called the office and requested maintenance on a running toilet, a bathtub toggle switch that didn't toggle from shower to bath, only leaking water from both, a TV that didn't work--no satellite connection?, a broken slat on the deck causing danger for young kids and, thank goodness my daughter fixed the dishwasher. Nobody followed up with me, and there was no record in the office when I turned in my key. <br/><br/>Time has been spent on the grounds, pool and boardwalk, so I am requesting a night's refund due to lack of follow up and condition of the condo.

Port A is Great!!
We had a great time in Port A as always. This was a new location for us and we had a great time. All went smooth from making the reservation on line to checking in and out and everything in between.

Great Location, But Has Mold & is Worn Down
When we first opened the door to the unit, a blast of stinky (what we thought was) mildew hit us squarely in the face. We moved past that, just thinking that most places on the beach must smell like this, even though I've stayed in multiple condos on the island without this problem. The kitchen sink faucet was working, but was not secured to the sink so it moved every time you tried to turn the water on. The curtain rod in one of the bedrooms was pulled out of the wall on one side. The dresser drawers had debris in them. The balcony had six working chairs, the seventh was broken but no one had removed it. The HOA arrived promptly at 8am on Saturday morning and started drilling & hammering on the rain gutters on our unit. We called after hours to confirm where overflow parking was (the onsite office is still closed after Harvey) and the operator had no idea, though the day staff was very professional & friendly. You can see black mold making its way out from behind the fresh ceiling paint in one of the bedrooms – all seven of us got sick -- sinus issues, swollen & sore throats, headaches. The four positives about this unit are the view of the beach, the close proximity to the boardwalk, the large pool & the cute beach décor. But I think they rushed the repairs after Harvey & people need to know there is black mold and they will get sick if they stay here. For $260 per night in the off season (the total including the cleaning fee & Homeaway's charge) I expected something in better shape. The unit is small – not quite big enough to comfortably fit 7 people, even though it sleeps 8.. I would go four people max if you’re going to stay here.

Lovely Condo, Disappointing Property
Vista Del Mar 505B is a very nice condo, beautifully decorated, with comfy beds and a sliver of an ocean view. It was perfectly clean when we arrived. Needed repairs include a broken toggle switch in one of the bathtubs, and a broken board on the balcony. (Watch out for little kids out there!) Everything else in the unit was in excellent working order. <br/>Outside the condo is not as good. There is only a small makeshift sign on 11th Street showing where to turn in - not visible at all after dark. Lighting along the driveways and in the parking area is sparse and needs improvement to make the area feel more secure. The pool is beautiful, sparkly clean and obviously well tended. However, the “office” area is gutted, under construction, and there are no washers/dryers available anywhere on the premises. <br/>There is a major drainage problem at the Beachhead Condos that urgently needs to be addressed. On the evening of our arrival, the driveway to the condo and our assigned parking space was completely flooded, impassable, and unusable. I immediately called Port A Escapes’ after-hours number, and was pleasantly informed that they already knew about the problem. I was very disappointed that Port A Escapes failed to notify me in advance or proactively provide information about alternative parking. We could have also used a property map (and flashlight) to help us find a route to get our luggage (and six-year old granddaughter) around the above-ankle deep, flooded areas and into the condo. Most of the commons area, the playground, picnic tables, grills, and parts of the boardwalk remained underwater throughout our stay. The area closest to the dunes was still an unhealthy, mosquito-infested swamp after five non-rainy days. Until the drainage issue is resolved, I would not recommend this property. <br/>

We enjoyed our first time at beach with 3 very active little boys ages 4,5,and 6. they loved the playground and the pool. we enjoyed the beach it was a long walk on the pier and next time will take the car to beach front with all our beach apparatus we wanted to set up. the walk too and from beach was to much for us and all our chairs, toys and tent. we loved having a kitchen ,made eating in less expensive. HaHa<br/>main thing read all the papers your given at check in great info on unit. yes its two flights of stairs, but we found different ways to cut down on stairs. I know its a big deal when stairs are not your thing. consider it a <br/>mini vacation workout. we did. enjoy the moments. and the laughter of little boys enjoying the adventure.

Family Reunion Weekend visit
We rented 3 different condos for our family reunion. We decided on these three based upon photos and speaking to the representative. However, we would have liked to have known that the room we wanted the best waterfront view actually had the worst. And we especially needed to know that all rooms were on the third floor. One of our guests was elderly, and several were very young children, so the extra flight of stairs made trips to and from the room quite difficult. Desk staff upon arrival did their job, but did seem a bit frazzled and not very happy or friendly.

Mini Vacation
The reason I marked down for amenities is because the TV in the master bedroom did not work at all. When we called to have the maintenance guy check on it they took all day to come. Then told us yep it's broken we will have to get the owners to get a new one. So we didn't have one for the whole stay. Also, in the guest bedroom they did not have cable. The only options was to watch movies on a DVD. Which would have been okay had we known but did not bring any movies b/c we thought we would have cable.

Cozy Getaway
My boyfriend, sisters, brother and his girlfriend rented the condo for a short weekend at the beach. The condo was clean and the grounds well kept. With both bathrooms only accessible through the bedrooms, I would recommend this particular condo for no more than 4 adults. It was also a bit awkward with one room housing two twin beds, but the setup would have been ideal for a family.

Family introduction to Texas coast
I had to take my California born wife and daughter to Port Aransas to experience classic Texas coastal beauty. It had been 35 years since my last visit and was thrilled to see it was the same old Port A but with modern improvements. The condo 505BH at Beachhead condos was just what the Dr ordered. Right on the beach and laid out perfectly with classic beach theme, you could tell the owners take great pride in this unit! The folks at Port A Escapes were very friendly and gave us great advice on local rest scene. We rented carts for 2 days and never used our car after that, what a fun time cruising up and down the beach. Don't miss out on renting one of these fun vehicles. Can't wait to go back and get another much needed recharge to the old batteries.

Very Impressed by Our First Stay in Port A !

GREAT Condo to Rent!!
I rented this unit for myself and my 4 kids (ages 30, 27, 22 & 12). It couldn't have been more perfect. Was VERY cute, great art, great bed choices and the kitchen had EVERYTHING we needed. HIGHLY recommend this unit and we will be back!

port a getaway
18 years going to port a and staying in various places. unit was spacious, but no trash pick up, no maid service at all, kind of had a dated,musty feeling/smell. we called ahead to let them know that we could not pick up key during office hours. they said no problem, arrangements were made to have key placed in lock box at management office. but when we got there and opened box, not keys. had to call emergency line, and a grumpy, "I am already in my pajamas" (it was 8:00)lady answered and then she came to the office and gave us keys. beach access if good, and if you don't mind doing housework, trash duty on your vacation, then this is an ok spot. we can not longer afford the outrageous price tag for port royal, so as an alternative, this is doable.

Seaside retreat
We had a fantastic time. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and the beach access couldn't be better. Check in and check out were both easy, convenient, and low-key. The first thing we did when we got home was to reserve the same apartment for next year. No wifi but that was our only complaint.

Beachhead 505, the BEST place to hang out with family!
This was our third time to stay at the Beachhead resort, and every time just gets better. There is a full kitchen, if you want to save money by cooking "at home" some meals (we have, but didn't this trip). There is a playground on sand, great for little kids when you're not up to a full beach set-up. There is a pool, and it was warm enough in November that we could have swum. The property is a half mile to two miles from pretty much everything, and we spent the whole week darting to and fro in a beach buggy. Great views and really quiet when you're ready for down time, too.

grear condo on the beach!
We loved our condo! We were so close to everything in town including restaurants and retail stores. We could walk straight to the beach on the Boardwalk located at the bottom of the stairs! It was clean, the rooms were functional, the kitchen had everything you need and the view was wonderful!!

Halloween Happiness
Excellent. Halloween was a great time to come. They had a pumpkin carving on Saturday on the Beach, and the trick or treating at Chanel Vista was the best I had ever seen. Grandkids Loved it!! Property was great!

Enjoyable
We enjoyed our time at Vista del Mar. The property was clean, well organised. Parking for guests could be crowded during busy times. TVs did not have consistent channels and the channel guide was incorrect. WiFi was not good the signal would not maintain on ipads. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Booked again for next year.

The location was perfect. The unit was clean. The decor was cute. The property could use some updating, the playscpae was very old and the sand full of fire ants. The deck had rotten boards and the secondary tv didn't work. For the money it was worth it and we had a great time.

Great Location but definitely dated and needed repairs
The location was great. It was a short walk across the boardwalk to the beach. The pool was amazing and very relaxing after a long day at the beach. The condo itself was very dated and very worn down. It smelled like mildew and mold, the kitchen was in awful condition. The fridge stopped working twice during our 3 nights and the management kept using the excuse, "well it is the weekend, so I can't get anyone there to look at it". Seriously? You rent the condos out mainly on the weekends and you can't get anyone out to look at it. Very frustrating! The second time it happened, we asked to use a different condos fridge till we left. They allowed us to use the next door condo. But still very frustrating!

The condo was overpriced. The decor was cute, but needs alot of updating. I was expecting more for the money. The extra fees were extensive. It was stressful to think that if we didn't get the garbage out just right or lose a key that it would rack up to such expensive costs on top of housekeeping and damage fees already charged. The beach and the weather were both awesome, though.

Good Service
we enjoyed our stay at vista del mar. Accomodations were a little older than we expected, but very clean and comfy. I think it was overpriced and the extra fees for cleaning were a bit high. I would recommend this place though. Great service by the lady at coldwell.

Great Thanksgiving Weekend
Enjoyed our stay. Great weekend with the family. The kids loved the beach and the men loved the fishing.<br/><br/>Note to Port A Escapes: We also rented Unit 508BH in Clark Freeby's name so I didn't get a survey on it. We wouldn't rate it very well on general condition and cleanliness, although other ratings would be the same.

We had stayed here before and really enjoy the location right on the beach. The only thing that would improve this condo is to have the big windows cleaned more often so the view out the window would be better.
Also, I the 11am check out is just tooo early especially for Easter Sunday. I would think that during the off-season, that people should be able to stay until really late on Sunday (about 4pm). If you required a two-night stay and allowed for a late Sunday check out, your properties would be booked

WE MADE A BIG MISTAKE, Patrick fixed it quick.
We arrived at 5:30, staff phoned to check our progress and stayed late to check us in. We got to the condo carrying our stuff in, when the wind blew the door closed, both keys locked inside. A quick call through the after hours answering service and Patrick<br/> saved the day. He made a return trip to the office immediately, and gave us another key, smiling cheerfully the whole time. A great guy from Boston, great management, great vacation. Beach was very nice, kids loved it too. See you next summer.

Very cute and comfortable condo
The unit BH505 was very clean and comfortable during our stay. It was nice to have everything we needed with regard to the kitchen. It was well equipped for preparing meals.. The beds were ok, the furnishings made the place feel warm and inviting. Nice view of the beach and dunes from the right side of the balcony on this 3rd floor unit. I've stayed in 508 and though the view is better, it was not as updated as 505. Would like to try a 2nd floor unit next time, the above balcony would provide protection form direct sun. We love Beachhead and would reccomend to friends. Port A Escapes and the staff at Beachhead are very accomodating and friendly.

Beach head 505
Stay was great. The only thing was the view from the bocony, online it showed the view of the playground and vollyball court, but when I got there it was a view of the buildings next door. But thats the only thing other than that everything was great. Will go back for another vist.

In my opinion this can only harm your business as in this day of needing instant information access, word does get around about the poor service. Overall we had a nice stay. However there are several things that would have made it better. Ice trays or ice, a king size bed, clean chairs on the balcony(seagull poop all over them!) and a pantry to put our food in.

Vista del Mar 505BH
We absolutely loved our stay here. It was spotless when we arrived. A short walk to the beach that we walked to every day. No one complained about uncomfortable beds (4 teenage boys)!! There is a journal for all guests to write in and it turns out the owners are from our part of North Texas, and, a big Football rival of ours. We definately plan on doing this at least every year, and requesting this same room. GO CELINA BOBCATS!!!<br/>

Enjoyed it!
The location was perfect, and the condo was in very good condition - not immaculate, but clean. Enjoyed our trip immensely. The view from our deck was slightly obstructed, but we could see the Gulf from our location while sitting on the right side of the deck. I loved the covered parking; really cut down on the additional salt spray on the windows overnight when the winds would pick up. It would really be helpful to put an icemaker or at least ice trays in the freezer. Additional towels would be helpful as well - two towels per person for the whole week is really chintzy. Other than a few minor issues like those mentioned, the experience was very positive. We will most likely be back!

Refreshed and Re-Newed Friendships
My best friend flew in from Cali after not seeing her for 5 years. Myself, Sister and friend drove from Austin and found the Condos very easily. To our delight the room was perfect. 1 queen and 2 double beds, a great view of the gulf from the balcony, and since we brought lots of food, we were very happy the kitchen was well stocked. We had a fantastic time. We will book again soon.

Another great stay in Port A!
We love this condo! The location within the complex, the location on the island, and especially the very thoughtful and fun decor... Obviously a lot of love has gone into preparing this home-away-from-home for visitors. We were very comfortable, we made breakfast and one meal a day in the fully-equipped kitchen, and there was plenty of room to spread out when we needed some down time from each other, and then when we wanted to hang out together, there were cards and televisions with DVD players. It was a great stay! We'll be back, but only when this specific condo is available. :)

Port Aransas Condo
This unit has not been well maintained. For example, the sinks and fixtures are old and rusty in the bathrooms, there was a cigarette burn on tub, etc. I would not stay there again.

Kids had a great time

Had a wonderful 3 days (too short)! It was great to relax with family and friends. The beach and water were perfect. Very clean beach!<br/>The condo was clean and neat. However, the refrigerator wasn't very cold during our stay. Other than that, I wouldn't hesitate to stay in Vista Del Mar again.<br/>We'll be back next summer for sure!

We enjoyed our time at Vista del Mar. The property was clean, well organised. Parking for guests could be crowded during busy times. TVs did not have consistent channels and the channel guide was incorrect. WiFi was not good the signal would not maintain on ipads. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Booked again for next year.

We had a fantastic time. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and the beach access couldn't be better. Check in and check out were both easy, convenient, and low-key. The first thing we did when we got home was to reserve the same apartment for next year. No wifi but that was our only complaint.

This was our third time to stay at the Beachhead resort, and every time just gets better. There is a full kitchen, if you want to save money by cooking "at home" some meals (we have, but didn't this trip). There is a playground on sand, great for little kids when you're not up to a full beach set-up. There is a pool, and it was warm enough in November that we could have swum. The property is a half mile to two miles from pretty much everything, and we spent the whole week darting to and fro in a beach buggy. Great views and really quiet when you're ready for down time, too.

The reason I marked down for amenities is because the TV in the master bedroom did not work at all. When we called to have the maintenance guy check on it they took all day to come. Then told us yep it's broken we will have to get the owners to get a new one. So we didn't have one for the whole stay. Also, in the guest bedroom they did not have cable. The only options was to watch movies on a DVD. Which would have been okay had we known but did not bring any movies b/c we thought we would have cable.

My boyfriend, sisters, brother and his girlfriend rented the condo for a short weekend at the beach. The condo was clean and the grounds well kept. With both bathrooms only accessible through the bedrooms, I would recommend this particular condo for no more than 4 adults. It was also a bit awkward with one room housing two twin beds, but the setup would have been ideal for a family.

I had to take my California born wife and daughter to Port Aransas to experience classic Texas coastal beauty. It had been 35 years since my last visit and was thrilled to see it was the same old Port A but with modern improvements. The condo 505BH at Beachhead condos was just what the Dr ordered. Right on the beach and laid out perfectly with classic beach theme, you could tell the owners take great pride in this unit! The folks at Port A Escapes were very friendly and gave us great advice on local rest scene. We rented carts for 2 days and never used our car after that, what a fun time cruising up and down the beach. Don't miss out on renting one of these fun vehicles. Can't wait to go back and get another much needed recharge to the old batteries.

18 years going to port a and staying in various places. unit was spacious, but no trash pick up, no maid service at all, kind of had a dated,musty feeling/smell. we called ahead to let them know that we could not pick up key during office hours. they said no problem, arrangements were made to have key placed in lock box at management office. but when we got there and opened box, not keys. had to call emergency line, and a grumpy, "I am already in my pajamas" (it was 8:00)lady answered and then she came to the office and gave us keys. beach access if good, and if you don't mind doing housework, trash duty on your vacation, then this is an ok spot. we can not longer afford the outrageous price tag for port royal, so as an alternative, this is doable.

We enjoyed our first time at beach with 3 very active little boys ages 4,5,and 6. they loved the playground and the pool. we enjoyed the beach it was a long walk on the pier and next time will take the car to beach front with all our beach apparatus we wanted to set up. the walk too and from beach was to much for us and all our chairs, toys and tent. we loved having a kitchen ,made eating in less expensive. HaHa<br/>main thing read all the papers your given at check in great info on unit. yes its two flights of stairs, but we found different ways to cut down on stairs. I know its a big deal when stairs are not your thing. consider it a <br/>mini vacation workout. we did. enjoy the moments. and the laughter of little boys enjoying the adventure.

We rented 3 different condos for our family reunion. We decided on these three based upon photos and speaking to the representative. However, we would have liked to have known that the room we wanted the best waterfront view actually had the worst. And we especially needed to know that all rooms were on the third floor. One of our guests was elderly, and several were very young children, so the extra flight of stairs made trips to and from the room quite difficult. Desk staff upon arrival did their job, but did seem a bit frazzled and not very happy or friendly.

This unit is beach front with great views of the Gulf. Picnic area with BBQ grills, community pool, boardwalk to the beach in the center of the complex. This unit is not pet friendly and smoking is permitted outside only. Make this your vacation destination, it's just perfect. Nestled in the dunes of Mustang Island, Beachhead condos all have awesome gulf views. The complex amenities include a large swimming pool, secured wireless internet.
