Alligator Point in Franklin County Florida, is about 45 miles south of Tallahassee. Some people call this area the Panhandle, but it's really the northwest corner of the "Big Bend" part of Florida. This is the least developed and least commercialized area in coastal Florida.

Alligator Point is one of the least developed and least touristy areas on the Florida Coast. Enjoy privacy and quiet here. No beach bars, no condos, no motels; nothing commercial on this beach. There is not even a public access for 3 miles, and therefore you have a great beach to yourselves. Franklin County has about 50 miles of Gulf of Mexico coastline and a population of only about 12,000. Located on Gulf of Mexico; Floridas forgotten coast.

Enjoy salt and fresh water fishing, shrimping, shelling and dolphin watching. Visit Lake Talquin State Forest. Try canoeing, horseback riding, hiking, and bicycle trails. Tates Hell State Forest Forest roads provide access to hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing. Gulf Specimen Marine Laboratory, Wakulla Springs State Park offers a variety of nature-oriented activities, such as swimming, hiking, and picnicking.

Alligator Point is easily reached from the northern half of Florida or Georgia. You can fly into most any where in that area. The closest airport is in Tallahassee (45 min drive), but you can also sometimes fly into Panama City (2 hr drive), Jacksonville (3 hr drive), Atlanta (5 hr drive), Orlando (5 hr drive), or Tampa (6 hr drive). There is also a small unpaved private landing strip just a 10 minute drive away.
