California, located on the North American west coast, is the most populous state in the US. The State of California is accessible through one of its international airports, the biggest of which is found in Los Angeles, the Los Angeles International Airport or what is commonly known as LAX. It services numerous flights to six different continents daily. Other tourists may also opt to fly in through the major international airports found in San Mateo County, SFO, while those coming in from domestic destinations can always choose to fly in through one of the many airports situated in Santa Ana, Santa Barbara, or Long Beach. Once in California, tourists can easily choose from a host of different local transportations, like car rentals, trains, or coaches, to bring them from one amazing destination to the next.
The Golden Gate Bridge
It is safe to assume that no California visit is ever complete without visiting, and having your photos taken, with the majestic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. After all, it is one of the most distinguished symbols of California, as well as of the United States. The world famous bridge links San Francisco with Marin County and bridges both US Route 101 and California State Route 1 across the Golden Gate Strait. Considered one of the most famous and photographed bridges in the world, the Golden Gate Bridge also holds the distinction as one of the Wonders of the Modern World.
The Wonders of Disneyland and Hollywood
Those who simply love Disney movies will never run out of interesting things to do and see should they decide to visit Disneyland in Anaheim, which is among the top tourist destinations in California. This attraction opened its doors to the world in July of 1955 and has been one of the most famous places to visit in the state. Kids and kids at heart will always find something of interest in its 57 different attractions and a flurry of different fun activities to partake in. Spend the entire day in what is deemed one of the most visited parks in the world … and it may still not be enough so that one has to come back another day or two.
Hollywood is but another interesting place to visit in California, especially for those who love and enjoy the movies. Aside from the exciting prospect of catching a favorite TV show taping, Hollywood in Los Angeles also offers numerous attractions that will delight movie lovers from different generations. Famous destinations here include the world famous Walk of Fame on Hollywood Boulevard, Grauman’s Chinese Theater which is considered the most famous movie theater in the world, the life like wax statues at Madame Tussaud’s Hollywood, and, of course the Hollywood Sign, which sits atop the Griffith Park’s Mount Lee for everyone to see.
The Wines of Napa Valley
Whether a wine connoisseur or not, anyone will enjoy a trip to the United States’ main wine growing region in the Bay Area to sample their wide collection of world famous wines. A visit to one of their famous vineyards, and hopefully sampling the Napa Valley grapes before they are processed to become wines, will prove to be a very worthwhile activity. There is also an assortment of fascinating activities to do here, starting with the exhilarating hot air balloon rides at the crack of dawn, the invigorating hot springs or hot mud bath, and the once in a lifetime experience of riding the Napa Valley Wine Train.
Explore the Yosemite National Park
There might be a host of different national parks in California but one of the best places to visit will have to be Yosemite National Park, situated in the Sierra Nevada mountains of east central California. Its majestic cliffs, crystal clear streams, splendid rock formations, and big waterfalls are but a few of the beautiful reasons why it is also listed a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park offers an assortment of exciting activities especially for those who look for adventure and love to spend time in the outdoors and under the sun. Visitors can easily choose to engage in rock climbing, horseback riding, skiing, trail hiking or golfing to experience the Yosemite National Park to the fullest. |
