The largest country in North America, Canada is the worlds second largest country after Russia. With its vast and spectacular wilderness and natural beauty it is no wonder that Canada is a favorite destination for travelers. You can visit the country any time of the year and be amazed by what the country has to offer.

The country is world-famous for its snow-capped mountains and high-class ski resorts. Mont-Tremblant Ski Resort in Montreal, Quebec, is a haven for skiers and snowboarders, featuring the highest peak in eastern Canada. The Whistler and Blackcomb twin resort in British Columbia is a favorite family hangout since they offer an array of family-oriented activities.

Winter is the best time for Canadians and tourists to go out and hit these world-class ski resorts and their community hockey rinks to enjoy some time with their families on ice.  You can also witness winter festivals like the Carnaval de Quebec in Quebec City and the Winterlude or Bal de niege in Ottawa and Gatineau. There are masquerade balls, parades, ice sculptures and numerous parties everyone could enjoy. There are also cultural and historical festivals such as the Festival du Voyageur, a 10-day winter festival and which literally means Festival of the Travelers, in Winnipeg and the Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Festival.

Spring marks the start of Canadian Music Festivals. Cariblues Festival in Yellowknife, Scotia Festival of Music in Halifax and Canadian Tulip Festival in Ottawa are some of the highlights you wouldnt want to miss.

Summer is the best time to visit Vancouver Island and be mesmerized by its majestic beauty. You can enjoy the beaches and have some fun under the sun. You can also try camping and enjoying nature at its finest. Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland is a favorite for backpackers. It provides campsites near the Green Gardens Trail.  If you want some peace and isolation try the Arowhon Pines in Algonquin Park, Ontario. Or if you want to go camping with the Canadian Rockies within your sight, go to the Tunnel Mountain in Banff, Alberta. If you are in British Columbia, the perfect place to camp is in Clayoquot Sound. Enjoy a kayak ride where you can encounter millennium-year trees, whales and eagles. This ride will take you to the shores of a wild beach where you can set up your tent and enjoy the sceneries and the experience. Summer is also the season for celebrations and festivities. Take note of these dates.

Canada is home to many species of wildlife, and wildlife watching is one of the greatest things to do when you are in the country. One of the places you have to visit to have a taste of this wildlife experience is Churchill. A small town in Manitoba, on the western part of Hudson Bay, Churchill is well-known for its inhabitants: the polar bears. You can watch their migration every October or November and see the spectacular Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, at night. In British Columbia, you can go to the Great Bear Rainforest to have a rare opportunity to have an encounter with spirit bears or Kermode bears. These bears are black bears with recessive genes that cause them to have white creamy coats. They are elusive and also called ghost bears. Whale-watching is another great adventure to experience in Canada. Digby Neck in Nova Scotia, Baie Ste-Catherine in Quebec and Vancouver Island in British Columbia are favorite spots to observe these beautiful creatures. For some bird-watching, visit the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland to get a glimpse of a herd of caribou or go to Saskatchewan and feast your eyes on pelicans while taking a stroll at Prince Albert National Park.

Of course, your experience is not complete without viewing the marvelous Niagara Falls. Being the second largest waterfall in the world, Niagara Falls is a favorite tourist destination. So dont forget to take a look at this natures wonder.
