A long sand retaining wall called "Slippery Wall" fronts both beaches creating a semi-enclosed salt water pool .... for surfing, canoeing and safe year-round swimming along the gently sloping sandy-bottomed shoreline.

Kapiolani Regional Park in the shadow of Diamond Head is a quiet 140-acre oasis of greenery. The park attracts joggers and is the starting point for the annual Honolulu Marathon.
