Makaha Rental Guide

Makaha, Oahu Makaha, Oahu Makaha Beach Cabanas, ID#208445

Makaha is a small town located on the Leeward coast of Oahu. This town is virtually untouched by tourists, a Makaha vacation rental offers a perfect getaway for those seeking to avoid the hustle and bustle of Honolulu and Waikiki while still enjoying an array of activities.

Mauna Lahilahi Beach and it's namesake Lahilahi Point (a.k.a. Black Rock) mark the entrance to one of Oahu's most historic areas...Makaha.

Famous for it's world renown surf, Makaha's beach is also popular with sun worshipers, snorkelers and people who just want to laze on an un-crowded beach. The swimming is good year round but one should exorcise caution in the winter when... "Surfs Up !".

The angle of the reef naturally divides the Makaha beach area into two distinct parts. One is excellent for surfing and boogie boarding and the other is calm enough for snorkeling.

The Makaha area was once the home of a intimidating gang of bandits who lived in the surrounding hills in the region. When Makaha is translated one of it's meanings aptly describes this situation-- "Fierce".

Visit the restored Kaneaki Heiau site, which went through five construction phases by 1650 AD. Extensive excavations led archeologists to believe that the temple first served the god Lono--god of agriculture and peace; and then rededicated to Ku--the god of war and construction. The site is in a very unique area located toward the back of Makaha Valley.

Makaha is a great place for scuba diving, sailing, surfing, fishing, swimming and of course basking in the sun. Humpback whales can be seen off the coast from November to March. The area has championship golf courses as well as public tennis courts. With Owner Direct, tourists can find a Hawaii vacation rental by owner easily.
