Okanagan Falls Rental Guide

Vineyards in Okanagan Falls, BC ID#206471 Okanagan Falls, British Columbia ID#206629 View of Skaha Lake, Okanagan Falls, BC ID#203929

Okanagan Falls is a community found at the south end of Skaha Lake, where its old name of Dog Lake was derived (Skaha translates to dog in the native language), in British Columbia. For obvious reasons, its new name came from a small set of falls that used to lie on the Okanagan River.

With very agreeable weather, the region has always depended on tourism for its main source of income. Famed for its hot and dry summers, Okanagan Falls is a favorite destination for outdoor enthusiasts and sun seekers, having tourists flock both from nearby regions of Edmonton, Vancouver and Calgary, as well as from overseas, to enjoy a wide array of activities the area has to offer, including fishing, climbing, various water sports like boating and windsurfing, as well as hiking and mountain climbing. The perfect Okanagan Falls vacation rentals are made available by OwnerDirect.

Apart from having the warmest summer temperature in Canada, this region also boasts the only true hot desert in the country, the Osoyoos Desert, not to mention some of the best beaches in Canada, making it a very popular holiday spot during summer. Visitors can also try their hand at golfing on any of the 53 golf courses found in the valley, from the most prestigious ones like Predator Ridge Golf Resort in Vernon to Fairview Mountain Golf Club in Oliver, The Okanagan Golf Club or Gallaghers Canyon Golf Club, both found in Kelowna. If golfing is not your thing and you visit in the winter, guests can have a grand time in any of the nearby ski resorts, beginning with the two big ones, Silver Star Resort and Big White Resort.

After all the adventure and the thrill-seeking activities, people can unwind by joining any of the various wine tours conducted in a number of its wineries and orchards. Highly recommended are The Mission Hill Winery, the organic winery of Summerhill or the Quails Gate Winery to learn not only about winemaking but also about the rich history of the Okanagan Valley. Apart from touring the underground barrel cellars, guests will also be treated to the winerys vast collection of arts and a customary wine-tasting activity of their award-winning wines. Booking a nice Okanagan Falls condo, apartment or perhaps a vacation home would make for a nice vacation experience. Okanagan Falls cabin chalets are also available.

Thrill seekers from other Canadian areas and from overseas can easily access Okanagan Falls through different modes of transportations. Tourists fly in to Kelowna International Airport and Penticton Regional Airport. Those in the nearby areas, on the other hand, can get to Okanagan Falls through the Greyhound coach services found in almost all points of British Columbia. Although, public transportation is noticeably underdeveloped in the region, and tourists and visitors are advised to travel the area aboard rental cars.

Kaleden and Naramata are two of the nearby vacation regions in the area.
