Quebec is a province in Canada. As a destination, it is unique compared to other North American areas. One of the most significant places you have to visit while in Quebec is Old Quebec, where history is mingling with the present. The tour also allows you to visit La Citadelle de Quebec or The Citadel. It is a military base and the official residence of Canadas Monarch and Governor General. It is strategically located atop Cap Diamant and offers a magnificent view of the St. Lawrence River. You can also have a great view of this river from the most photographed structure in Quebec City, The Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac. It is a luxurious hotel of centuries-old architecture with copper roof and turrets. Another historical place to see is Place Royale where a replica of a 19th century house offers children the chance to try on clothes from the same period. There are also art galleries, boutiques and restaurants to stop by at the Petit-Champlain district. Dont miss the Musee de la civilization, the most popular museum in Quebec City. Parc Jeanne dArc is another historical site where a statue of Joan of Arc sits in its center as a symbol of courage. This is also the place where the Canadian national anthem O Canada was first played. The Plains of Abraham in The Battlefields Park are worth visiting too. Aside from its historical significance, the park is said to be one of the worlds largest and most prestigious urban parks. It also provides ski trails for skiers during winter. Hotel du Parlement or the Parliament Building is the most important historical site in the city. It is a prominent structure with its Renaissance architecture. You can join a tour that includes the National Assembly Chamber and the Legislative Council Chamber. To have a 360 degree vista of the whole city, go to Observatoire de la Capitale which provides spectacular views of the city with its river and mountains. Montmorency Falls Park is a place you have to see if you want to discover the beauty of nature in this part of Canada. It is open for visitors to explore the falls and even provides an aerial tram to carry the passengers from the base to the top of the falls. Across Montmorency Falls is the Ile dOrleans, an island of farming and agriculture. Sainte-Petronille, the tip of the island, has the most scenic views of the falls, the Cap Diamant and Beauport Bay. Saint-Laurent has various farm stands and strawberry fields. You can also find la Forge a Pique Assault here, an old blacksmith shop turned museum as well as the Parc maritime de Saint-Laurent for the islands maritime history. Saint-Jean is home to a village of well-preserved houses as old as 180 years. It also features the Manoir Mauvide-Genest, a New France mansion that depicts the culture and way of living during those times. Saint-Francois attracts tourists with its observation tower while Saint-Famille takes pride on being the oldest parish on this island. The Maison Drouin, a typical residence during 1730, was restored recently. Saint-Pierre is the most populated area on the island because it is the nearest village to the only bridge that connects the island to the other parts of Quebec. It is home to Espace Felix-Leclerc, a cultural center that pays homage to the local singer and poet. Outside Quebec City, in Cte-de-Beaupr, the Shrine of Saint-Anne-de-Beaupre attracts many visitors annually. The basilica, with its golden statue of Saint Anne, is said to be a miraculous place and is a favorite for religious travels and pilgrimages. There are also remarkable works of art to be admired. It includes the Cyclorama de Jerusalem, a circular painting of the Crucifixion. Canyon Saint Anne is an incredible natural wonder. It is a canyon carved by the Saint Anne Falls. There are many outdoor activities you can enjoy like zip lines, hiking and others. Then following the river to Saint Joachim will lead you to Cap Tourmente National Wildlife Area, best known for bird-watching. With more than 300 bird species, it is one of Canadas most famous bird-watching sites. The Mont Sainte-Anne has an amazing panorama. It is also a perfect venue for some winter fun. Portneuf houses Canadas oldest highway, the Le chemin du Roy. It is also the place to be for some adventures any time of the year. Follow Route Bleue for some water activities such as rafting, kayaking and canoeing. Route Verde is for bikers who love sightseeing.
