Whistler, BC and Whistler Blackcomb resort are one of the largest of their kind in North America since it is the convergence of two ski areas. It must be the very reason why many tourists prefer coming here than to any other ski resort, making it the most frequently visited of all ski resorts. It was also the location for the Winter Olympics in 2010.
With so many tourists visiting each year, Whistler village provides an extensive array of choices when it comes to food and dining. The following are some of our favourite restaurants worth trying while in the vicinity.
The Garibaldi Lift Co. Bar and Grill, located at the top of the Whistler Gondola building, is a perfect place to hang out if you want to dine while having a fabulous view of the skiers or bikers at Whistler Mountain Bike Park. At night, you can enjoy some music from live performers too.
21 Steps Bar is another great place to satisfy your hunger. Serving comfort foods, you almost feel like you are home. Cocktails are also available at the Attic Bar. Add soothing music and a comfortable couch, and it’s perfect. The bar is open every day from 5:30 pm until midnight. It is recommended to make a reservation.
One of the coolest places to experience in Whistler is Alta Bistro. The owners actually live in the bistro and they love skiing. They are environmentally friendly people and support local businesses by using local products. The bistro serves modern French cuisine and it takes pride in its wines and cocktails. It opens only from Wednesdays to Sundays from 5:30 until midnight; a reservation is recommended.
Another favorite is the Araxi Restaurant. Araxi serves Canadian cuisine and it is internationally reputed for its excellent food and wine. To make your vacation more memorable and unforgettable, this is one of the places worth visiting.
Trattoria Di Umberto is another experience not to miss. It serves Italian cuisine in a homey atmosphere which is perfect for family outings. It serves dinner seven days a week and reservations are also highly recommended.
Love Indian food? Tandoori Grill is the place for you. It is one of the premium restaurants in Whistler to try. The grill has gluten-free and vegetarian menus.
Craving sushi? Easy to satisfy in Whistler Village, for in the midst of this pedestrian village lies The Sushi Village. Serving authentic Japanese cuisine and the freshest sushi in the West, it is one of the most famous restaurants in Whistler.
If you want an Irish pub experience, visit the Dubb Linn Gate. Have a taste of authentic Irish cuisine in this happy pub. You can also enjoy their live music everyday with your kids.
There are so many restaurants to choose from and if you’re having a hard time deciding, Whistler Tasting Tours might help. Have the most enjoyable dinner by experiencing four of Whistler’s finest restaurants in one night. A local guide takes guests to four of these restaurants, one course every venue until they finish the four-course dinner with a dessert. I think this is the best way to enjoy all these favourite Whistler restaurants. |
