We stayed here over September long weekend. Akiskinook is a beautiful, family friendly resort with a great beach, a recreation centre, and close to everything. I would highly recommend the resort. That said, I would not go back to this property unless some upgrades were done. When we entered the condo we were overwhelmed by the musty, stagnant smell. There is white carpet throughout and it is quite dirty. I think it must be original as it looks like it needs a good clean, maybe that would help with the smell. The bedrooms were large which was great and the bathrooms were upgraded. However, the beds were really uncomfortable. The master bedroom mattress was so firm that we had terrible back pain the whole time. I think the mattresses must also be original, nobody slept well.
The kitchen is dark, minimal daylight, minimal counter space. The dishwasher is on it's last leg I'm sure as it sounded like a jet engine when we ran it. Consequently we couldn't be in the condo when it was running. The kitchen also felt kind of dirty with the original cupboards and old flooring. Lots of pots and pans and dishes but no paper towel or tin foil or salt. Things that are usually in rental places. The condo was nice and cool but it doesn't get much daylight as it is located far back in the resort on a heavily treed ravine. This was a nice feature in some ways because it was quiet and we felt like we were in the forest. It is not close to the beach though so if you have small kids you will probably have to drive (3 min) to the beach.
Stayed with family - Would not recommend to friends and family
