Property is NOT waterfront or within 30 minute drive of a lake, ocean or river.
Sea Trail Plantation is located one mile from the beach. Even though it's only a mile, walking is not recommended from May through September due to heavy car traffic and the narrow road shoulders. Besides, you'll need your car to take your beach chairs, umbrellas, floats, surf boards, boogie boards, etc. There are three parking lots at the beach, two are free and one is exclusively for resort guests.

We knew from the photos this unit needed updating, however was put off right away, when we found the metal front door rusted and needing painting and amateurish sound proofing on some doors. Other issues we had, were no cupboard space for food in the kitchen (there is a spare cupboard where the washer and dryer are), garbage can in the kitchen smelled so we bleached it, old tired rug in the living room, old chair that needs to be cleaned as does the white rattan furniture side cushions. The bathroom in the main unit, off the bedroom is very small and very dark, so we used the mini suite bathroom for showering. The vertical blinds in the bedroom were repaired with scotch tape, with one slat falling down in the middle of the night!
I reported to the owner a few issues: trouble with the combination lock which he replied we'd be welcome to replace the batteries, use the other door or the key in the combination lock box which we did. Also there were marks on the king bed sheets, which he knew about and was replacing after we left (I'll bet not). We also found marks on some of our clothes after they were washed and he stated it was probably rust from the washer (a lot around the lid).
This unit was not very clean, the stove front was filthy as were the kitchen sinks, and there was a lot of sand and dog hair in the carpets and on the patio doors in the bedroom. The fridge needs all the shelves taken out and washed.
We loved the resort golf courses, and will return, but not to this building. We had friends who stayed elsewhere in Sea Trail and they had lovely units and only paid a couple hundred dollars more, well worth it!

Owner Comments
I was totally surprised by this review. It is a far cry from the 5-star (mostly) and 4-star reviews we get for the same property on VRBO, Homeaway and Flipkey. I do not know what I did to antagonize this guest.

Regardless, we take all criticism, constructive or otherwise, and use it as an impetus to improve the stays of all of ours guests. We offered to replace the sheets on the spot and to diagnose the lock problem. Correcting the problems was not the reason for their complaint—they didn’t want to be held accountable and were just putting me on alert.

The exterior of the building is handled by the POA and the building is scheduled to be painted in September. This will take care of the rust on the door but it is an eyesore, so the entry doors of this unit will be painted no later than June 9. The sheets were replaced after this guest left with 1200 threadcount king sheets. The vertical blind put back into place with scotch tape (unbeknowst to us by a previous guest) has been replaced. The cleaning issues have been addressed with our cleaning crews.

Before this guest arrived, we had ordered a new sofa, easy chair and living room rug. It arrived while the guests were in-house. We chose not to inconvenience them by having the new furniture delivered and the old removed. If we had known of their displeasure, we certainly would have. This condo was rented 100% of the time from Thanksgiving 2012 to May 7, 2013. I think this speaks well of the condo and what our guests think of this property and others we own. We live in Sea Trail and do our best to take a pro-active role in taking care of things before they become problems.

This is the first review of any sort that I have every seen first hand or read about on other owners’ properties where at least one thing positive wasn’t mentioned so I guess I will do that in defense of this property:

Combination door locks so you don’t have to keep up with keys plus it provides much better security than keys.

While I know this guest won’t return, I hope you will give us a shot. If you like the looks of our condo, then call me and I will you as many references as you want to feel comfortable doing business with us. Thank you.
