REVIEWS ********************************************************************************************************* An absolutely charming, storybook home. Fairytale outside, air conditioning and Wi-Fi inside. 5/5 Stayed Jun 2018 Bridget D. USA We had a wonderful visit. Martine was absolutely lovely; fun, kind and patient with our poor French language skills. She even made us a dinner reservation on our first night there. The house is charming, and it was wonderful to sit on the patio and watch village life go by. Thank you Vincent and Martine. Small piece of paradise 5/5 Stayed Jun 2018 Louis K. South Africa We had the most warming welcome from Martine and felt really at home . La Petite Maison is equipped to a tee, beautiful furniture, and a patio to die for. We had many a late dinner out on this little patio. The house is ideally situated in Beynac so that you can explored all the beautiful surrounding villages with ease. Wonderful forests to hike in. La Petite Maison is absolutely perfect :o) 5/5 Stayed Mar 2018 Rich M. USA We stayed at this charming little cottage for 2 weeks. It is the perfect location for exploring the Dordogne region and for other day trips. The property is absolutely breathtaking and is like living in a fairytale. It is exactly what you see in the pictures....Only better!! You will be impressed from the time you arrange this accommodation with the owner, are met and given the keys (super cool keys) and are greeted by the wonderful housekeeper. The owners suggestions for weekly markets, hiking, gardens and cave art were brilliant. Of all the villages we visited we were always so excited to get back home to La Petite Maison and Beynac. We would go back in a heartbeat!! It couldn't possibly be any better. 5/5 Stayed Dec 2017 Judith N. USA Staying here is like staying in a dream. Everything you need is here and the cottage and the town are charming and welcoming. We loved shopping for ingredients for our Christmas dinner at the little local shops at the bottom of the hill. Add some pate from a local farm and it is an unforgettable experience in an unforgettable place. Even in December many places were open and everyone was so patient with our attempts to speak French. Merci, Vincent, for sharing your treasure with us.

It has been beautifully converted into a luxury, 4 bedroom villa with a pool, gardens and private access to the river for swimming, fishing and bird watching.. Just 15 minutes east of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Saint-Émilion, you are surrounded by some of the greatest wine-makers in the world. Le Priolet is a tranquil escape, and the perfect home-base from which to explore the Bordeaux region. The open plan gourmet kitchen and dining area for 6-8 people is warmed by a large stone fireplace, and opens up to a patio and outdoor dining area overlooking the river. You will spend many hours with your coffee/tea or a glass of wine, watching the river drift by. And when the weather is warm, we eat outside every meal. It is not uncommon for swans and other water birds to spend their days in the river by Le Priolet, watching us as we enjoy their presence. The kitchen opens to a large double height living room with a second smaller dining or games table and it's own freestanding fireplace. A bluetooth speaker and drinks cart helps you set the mood. The villa has 4 large bedrooms. The master bedroom is upstairs with a king size bed and ensuite bathroom. There are two bedrooms on the main level, one with a queen sized bed, and the other with two twin beds that can be separate or pushed together for another king size bed. These rooms share a large bathroom adjacent to them. The loft bedroom has a queen size bed and it's own ensuite bathroom. There is also a separate toilet off the living room. Extra sleeping room for 2 can be arranged in the large den with a pull-out sofa and a day bed. Other amenities include, wifi, satellite TV, washer/dryer, ping pong table, bikes, canoes and kayaks. • A Million Euro View in

    Beynac et Cazenac: Villa
    3 BDR • 2 BA • Sleeps 6 • #233150
    150 to 155 EUR/night
This is a charming 15th Century stone house located in the heart of the village of Beynac, listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. The chateau at Beynac is on the top of a 500 foot cliff and the village houses are positioned below - providing privacy and spectacular views from one side of the house, and village life on the other. Extraordinary views of the magnificent Dordogne river and the Valley of the Five Chateaux present themselves from each of the four floors. The front door opens directly from the cobblestone streets - just steps from our private and unique parking grotte - into the main room of approximately 60 sq. Meters. Honey colored stone walls, stone tile floor, ancient wooden beams and a huge medieval fireplace set the tone for this main floor. A fully applianced kitchen with a granite countered cooking area is built into one of the old fireplaces. Antique carpets and leather seating offers a comfortable area to relax, listen to the stereo or view English satellite television on the 30' flat panel television. The large dining table suitable for seating up to 6 diners is next to the window offering spectacular views of the river, the sunset and the colorful montgolfiers (hot air balloons) drifting by at dawn and sunset most days in season. Down the stone staircase is the Master Bedroom with an ensuite bathroom combining modern fixtures with stone walls. A King-size bed with temperpedic mattress, reading lamps, desk and a large private full width balcony with loungers, barbeque and dining table for two make this room the ideal spot to relax with the a glass of wine to admire the view. On this same level there is a very small bedroom with bunk beds for children, which is especially convenient for parents who want their young children to sleep nearby but in a separate space from the master bedroom. One floor down, the old merchants store room now is the second large bedroom, again with stone walls, ancient beamed ceiling and a river view. This room also has a king size bed. An ensuite bathroom, and a full laundry room with washer and dryer complete this floor. Because neither bedrooms are in the attic, and the thick stone walls offer a cooling insulator against the hot Dordogne summers, we sleep comfortably cool all summer long, many times with a duvet cover. Another floor down brings you to a flagstoned terrace with a grape and wisteria arbor for a shaded sitting area and a few steps down, the stunning swimming pool area - with panoramic views and full access to the sun. Wonderful views of the river from both terraces and views of the Chateaux of Fayrac, Castelnaud, Lacosse and Marqueyssac. Eat, drink and be merry. Mont Joie is truly a destination in itself. Many of our guests return each year and plan their whole vacation around their stay at this property. So pack your bags and experience the true French joie de vivre. Please note: Parking for small vehicle. Property has stairs to each level.

Hackamore house is a recent and modern construction in a Louisiane style, surrounded by trees with a fantastic view on the Gironde estuary. The swimming pool is only available in the Summer. It's a peaceful place very closed to the small village of Plassac and not very far from Blaye where you can find a local market twice a week , a large supermaket and some restaurants. Bordeaux has more than 350 classified buildings and buildings listed as Historic Monuments, including 3 religious World Heritage buildings since 1998 as part of the Routes of Santiago DE Compostela in France. 3/Cross the Gironde Europe’s largest estuary With a surface area of 600 KM² and a width of 3 to 12 KM, the Gironde Estuary is the largest in Europe and the best protected. Take the ferry boat in Blaye (crossings about 30 minutes long) and visit the vineyard of Medoc or drive to the Atlantic beaches (60 KM West). 4/ Enjoy the sea and the Great Dune of Pilat at the entrance to the Arcachon Basin(120 KM South West) Rising 107 metres above sea level, it is the highest dune in Europe, “one of nature’s masterpieces”, “jewel of the Basin”, “majestic” – there is certainly no lack of superlatives regarding the Great Dune of Pilat 5/ Drive to Dordogne and Perigord (150 KM East): Home first to prehistoric man and later to the Gauls, Romans and Franks, each of whom left the stamp of their respective civilisations. The Dordogne banks are a thousand and one castles steeped in legend, witness to centuries of conquests and the intermixing of cultures 6/ Stay in the Plassac area and discover the surroundings : - Antique Italy in Plassac (5 minutes walk) - The citadel of Blaye XVII Century (3 KM from home) - The cave of Pair-non-Pair : (15 minutes by car) 7/ At least, if you have enough time, you can drive to Côte Basque (200km) and visit Biarritz

Nice is 1 hour and and 14 minutes by car. The local vineyards are superb with great quality wines. “We had a fantastic holiday in this spacious 3 bedroom house with a magnificent swimming pool set in beautiful gardens in the hills above Les Arcs. The location is very peaceful and private. The swimming pool was the focus of our stay, the lack of chlorine was much appreciated and it has to be said that it was one of the best pools we have ever experienced. The pool is also toddler friendly because it has a gradual descent into the pool which gave our toddler the confidence to learn to swim. The house is tastefully decorated, clutter free, with modern furniture and mod cons. There is a functional kitchen with all the amenities we needed and an outdoor barbecue. The upstairs bedrooms have a shared balcony which gave us extra space and views of the surrounding area. As cyclists, we appreciated the use of the double garage for secure storage. We could descend down into les arcs for coffee and croissants at the excellent Le Tour cafe and return via traffic free roads through vineyards and leafy lanes. There is a local cycle path about 20 miles long, where the gradients were easy and gave panoramic views of the local vineyards. If you do this track, make sure you stop at the Station Rosalie (green caravan), west of Lorgues, serving the best bruschetta any of us had ever tasted. A trip to the Gorge De Verdon is spectacular and would make a great place to visit for either kayaking, cycling or walking. There is a big choice of local supermarkets, Boulangerie’s and a fruit and veg shop offering fantastic fruit and vegetables to die for, are within easy access by car or bike. The area seems to specialise in rose wine and the Chateau Saint Pierre is just south of Les Arcs selling great bottles for a good price. We had an incredible holiday and we can’t wait to go back! ”

It is within 15 minutes drive of local supermarkets and the historic town of Les Arcs. It is also 10 minutes drive from Les Arcs main railway station. It is 50 minutes to the beautiful town of St Tropez, and also 50 minutes drive to Cannes and 55 minutes to Gorge de Verdon winch boasts an incredible turquoise blue lake. 25 minutes drive to Frejus seafront and sandy beaches and a fantastic aqua park. Nice is 1 hour and and 14 minutes by car. The local vineyards are superb with great quality wines. “We had a fantastic holiday in this spacious house with a magnificent swimming pool set in beautiful gardens in the hills above Les Arcs. ”

The gite has full central heating throughout and has a large log burner, making it suitable for holidays all year round. There is an open plan lounge/diner with a galley-style kitchen area. The focal point of the room is the large original fireplace. The lounge area has comfortable sofas, while the dining area has a pine table and eight chairs. The television in the gite receives all Sky free channels. There is a DVD and video player and a selection of DVD's videos, games and books. The kitchen has fitted units with an integrated dual fuel cooker. There is also a refrigerator with a freezer compartment and a large selection of kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery, pots, pans and serving dishes. A patio door leads to the rear garden, where there is a garden table and chairs. The bathroom has been fitted with a large shower cubicle and a sink. There is a separate toilet next to the bathroom. One bedroom has a large oak double bed, with an oak wardrobe and side cabinet. The second bedroom has two pine single beds with a pine wardrobe and chest of drawers. For our smaller guests there is a baby bath, travel cot, stair gate and high chair if required. The large garden to the rear of our self-catering properties has been laid to lawn and contains a 15ft round, above-ground swimming pool. The garden is enclosed with gates at the entrances. At the front of the gite there is a graveled area which incorporates an ancient bread oven, with a walled pergola. Michouat” is the name of our property here just outside the village of Vidou, about 2km from the little Gascony Bastide town of Trie-sur-Baïse. Built in the 1880s, Michouat is a traditional L-shaped Gascony farmhouse, with the family living in one side and the livestock and winter stores in the other. It remained a working farm until the end of the 1990’s when the land was sold off and the barn side of the property was tastefully converted into a Pyrenees holiday gîte. The department of the Hautes Pyrénées is part of the relatively undiscovered and tranquil south west of France known as Gascony. The small village of Vidou is situated just 3.5 kilometres from the 13th century bastide market town of Trie sur Baïse (pronounced Tree sue’r By-ease), which offers all day to day requirements, with banks, bakers, supermarkets, butcheries, pharmacies, doctors, dentists and tourist information bureau. A bustling market takes place every Tuesday. Midi-Pyrénées boasts more than 20 world-famous Great Tourist Sites of outstanding interest in a region that takes up much of South-West France, including Millau Viaduct, the Cirque de Gavarnie, Rocamadour and much more. Sun-kissed, endearing and a treat for lovers of fine food, the region’s way of life and beautiful countryside will bowl you over, not forgetting the region’s capital of Toulouse in all its red-brick finery, a city renowned for its quality of life. The Great Tourist Sites in Midi-Pyrénées include great man-made structures unrivalled anywhere in the world (Millau Viaduct, Pic du Midi astronomical observatory), medieval gems (Cordes sur Ciel, Rocamadour, Saint Cirq-Lapopie), Unesco World Heritage Sites (Albi and its Cité Épiscopale, the Canal du Midi) and wonders of nature (Cirque de Gavarnie, Pont d’Espagne). Midi-Pyrénées boasts a heritage of infinite diversity, unspoilt and cherished, dating chiefly from Prehistory, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. All around the Great Sites, châteaux, gorgeous villages, ‘bastide’ towns, Templar cities, prehistoric painted caves, and fine churches, cathedrals and abbeys are just waiting to be discovered by the curious traveller. The region bears the scars of the crusade against the Cathars, symbolised by the mighty Montségur Castle in Ariège. Midi-Pyrénées gives you four regional nature parks and the never-ending spectacle of beautiful landscapes. In the south, the region butts up against the Pyrenees whose 3,000-metre peaks form a line along the border with Spain. This is a destination where hiking, cycling, white-water sports and skiing (in winter, in the Pyrenees), are in their element. And with some of France’s finest canals and rivers, including the Canal du Midi, making up one of the largest networks of waterways in southern Europe, river tourism is becoming increasingly popular. And Midi-Pyrénées is also France’s fourth biggest spa region. The 17 thermal-water spas here offer stunning surroundings in which to relax and soak up the pampering pleasures of thermal spa well-being. No surprise, then, that Midi-Pyrénées is home to Europe’s largest collection of recreation spas. From our Gite you are within easy reach of Skiing, Cycling, fishing (coarse and fly), playing golf or just enjoying the beautiful sights and culture
