    • 3 BDR

    €175 to €175 EUR/night Paypal
This is a charming 15th Century stone house located in the heart of the village of Beynac, listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. The chateau at Beynac is on the top of a 500 foot cliff and the village houses are positioned below - providing privacy and spectacular views from one side of the house, and village life on the other. Extraordinary views of the magnificent Dordogne river and the Valley of the Five Chateaux present themselves from each of the four floors. The front door opens directly from the cobblestone streets - just steps from our private and unique parking grotte - into the main room of approximately 60 sq. Meters. Honey colored stone walls, stone tile floor, ancient wooden beams and a huge medieval fireplace set the tone for this main floor. A fully applianced kitchen with a granite countered cooking area is built into one of the old fireplaces. Antique carpets and leather seating offers a comfortable area to relax, listen to the stereo or view English satellite television on the 30' flat panel television. The large dining table suitable for seating up to 6 diners is next to the window offering spectacular views of the river, the sunset and the colorful montgolfiers (hot air balloons) drifting by at dawn and sunset most days in season. Down the stone staircase is the Master Bedroom with an ensuite bathroom combining modern fixtures with stone walls. A King-size bed with temperpedic mattress, reading lamps, desk and a large private full width balcony with loungers, barbeque and dining table for two make this room the ideal spot to relax with the a glass of wine to admire the view. On this same level there is a very small bedroom with bunk beds for children, which is especially convenient for parents who want their young children to sleep nearby but in a separate space from the master bedroom. One floor down, the old merchants store room now is the second large bedroom, again with stone walls, ancient beamed ceiling and a river view. This room also has a king size bed. An ensuite bathroom, and a full laundry room with washer and dryer complete this floor. Because neither bedrooms are in the attic, and the thick stone walls offer a cooling insulator against the hot Dordogne summers, we sleep comfortably cool all summer long, many times with a duvet cover. Another floor down brings you to two flagstoned terraces, one with a grape and wisteria arbor for a shaded sitting area and a few steps down, the lower terrace - with full access to the sun. Wonderful views of the river from both terraces and views of the Chateaux of Fayrac, Castelnaud, Lacosse and Marqueyssac.

Our 2-bedroom house is in a charming village which sits on the River Yonne and Canal du Nivernais in rural Burgundy. The interior has been kept faithful to the style and decor of the prior authentic, old Frenchwoman. Fast wifi internet is available in the house. It features two good-sized double bedrooms, a large dining room, a sitting room and a small kitchen. The bathroom has a shower, toilet and illuminated vanity/sink. Towels and washers are provided, and the cleaning costs are included in the price. The village is very well appointed for its size with amenities including a tiny but comprehensive supermarket, a superb boulangerie (bakery), cafe/bar, restaurant, doctor surgery (English-speaking), pharmacy, hairdresser, service (gas) station, marina on the canal, florist, wine cellar and more. The village is overlooked by a lovely old church which has a 9th century crypt. The neighbours are friendly, and the rural nature of the area makes driving easy. Don't miss the Thursday morning markets in the main square, or for larger shopping needs, Avallon and Auxerre are just 26km (16 miles) and 37km (23 miles) respectively. Or catch a train to Clamecy (17km). The village has a railway station (Corbigny line) which is 1km (0.62 miles) from the house - a 10-12 minute walk. We recommend drives in the country; walks or bike rides along the canal tow paths; fishing in the river and canal; visiting vineyards; chateaux and abbeys, sampling the delicious local cuisine and wines, and browsing in antique stores. Buy fresh bread, croissants and delicacies every day from the bakery, and on Wednesday (when it's closed), have a croque monsieur and a coffee at the cafe/bar in the main square while watching the world go by. Vezelay is a UNESCO heritage-listed village just 15km (9 miles) away, and the Caves of Arcy-sur-Cure are just 18km (11 miles) away. The wine growing area of Chablis is about 40km away - the whites are superb.

Why “l’Hirondelle” – because each year in the summer swallows visit Capestang and is area and can be seen performing their aerobatics against the back drop of an Azure sky. We started off with a stone built house just over 100 years old and over a period of 4 years we have lovingly restored it into luxurious maison de village in southern France, which sleeps 6, comprising of three double bedrooms, fully fitted kitchen, spacious open plan lounge/diner, two bathrooms and a ground floor toilet, terrace, garden, BBQ, spa pool, garage and is situated in a calm area of the village. It is in an ideal spot to wind down after the hustle bustle of everyday life, yet with plenty of attractions in the area you can do as much or as little as you wish. THE REGION: It is in a village called CAPESTANG (population approx 3,500), which is close to the PYRENEES, the MASSIF CENTRAL and just 25 minutes from the MEDITERRANEAN SEA. Why is it called Capestang? Prior to the Middle Ages the village was on land jutting into a lake or etang, so became known as Cap d’Etang. The lake was drained but remnants of it can still be seen from the top of the nearby L’Oppidom d’Enserune, which was a Roman settlement where many artefacts still exist, showing a dartboard appearance from the shape of the fields below. It is a village which is popular with tourists but is not spoiled by them. The essential character of a southern French village still being retained. It is an area is full of antiquity and items of historical interest dating back to 3,000 BC. This village has been in existence for at least 1,000 years and parts of the old village wall and other buildings still exist. It is a centre of the Languedoc viticulture region where the local wines have become exceptionally good over the last few years. There facilities for walking, lazing on the beach (some of which are family orientated, such as Valras Plage, where there is a kiddies playground and sheltered areas to make safe areas for the children and it is patrolled by lifeguards). There is swimming in the sea, lakes and nearby swimming pools with other water sports. You can hire a boat for a leisurely ride along the canal, or hire cycles for a ride. It is a very good area for cycling and walking. For the motorcyclists, there are some excellent roads for riding hereabouts but beware of the speed traps. There are even areas where you can do some light aircraft flying. Wine tasting, eating out and exploring old relics are also good options. In fact with such a good choice of restaurants which can be reached on foot the car can rest in the garage at night. The locals are so very cheerful, friendly and helpful and overall it has a calm and peaceful atmosphere and is an ideal place to wind down. It is also makes an excellent base for touring the region. Our house is situated within 300 metres of the village centre where there are a number of shops, cafe's, restaurants, a very striking church and other amenities. At the eastern end of the village, there is an InterMarché Supermarket with a Lidl supermarket at the western end. This area is blessed with a Mediterranean climate meaning that it is hot and dry in the summer and the winters are relatively mild, with lovely comfortable spring and autumns in between. LE CANAL DU MIDI crosses the northern part of the village and is about 500 metres from the house. ABOUT OUR HOUSE: Our house is mostly stone built and terraced. Having good modern insulation it is comparatively cool in the summer and warm in the winter. This is augmented by a “green” system which provides heating and cooling to the main living area and the three bedrooms. A wood burning stove gives added heat and comfort in the coldest months. It is built on two floors with the ground floor and is mainly open plan, consisting of a front porch, then a spacious lounge/diner extending into the kitchen giving a spacious living area. In here there is an HD multi channel flat screen satellite and local TV, an audio centre, a comfortable 3 piece suit and book shelves with a selection of books covering all interests. In the dining area there is a dining table with 6 chairs and also a dresser. There is an integral garage, large enough to accommodate most makes of car. At the rear of the garage there is the laundry area with a washing machine. There is a downstairs toilet with a wash basin with a rear porch area. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes an electric cooker, dish washer, fridge freezer, micro wave oven and a granite surface work top. To the rear of our house there is an outdoor terraced area with a barbeque and garden furniture to allow for outdoor eating and beyond this a garden in which there is a spa pool. After mounting the stairs to the second floor there is firstly a double bedroom furnished with a pair of single beds, built in wardrobes with ample hanging and storage space. From here the next room is the main bathroom which is quite large and has a tub, shower, wash basin and a W/C. The next bedroom is also fitted with built in ample sized wardrobes. It has twin beds and an en suite shower room with a shower, wash basin and W/C. The final bedroom is furnished with a double bed and again ample sized built in wardrobes and drawer space. The beams have been left exposed throughout the second floor and in the single storey kitchen giving high ceilings and a pleasing ambience. In the roof there are two Veluxe skylights allowing addition daylight to the stairs and upstairs landing, giving a light and airy feeling. In the bathroom there is a heated towel rail which can also be used to provide heat. The domestic hot water system is heated via solar panels on the roof feeding a 300 litre tank. We also have a telephone and inter-net access. GETTING THERE: Capestang is about 15 minutes from the Beziers West exit of the N9 Autoroute. It is about one hour from Montpelier, Perpignan and Carcassonne Airports, two hours from Toulouse and three hours from Barcelona Airports. Alternatively, if you prefer about 12 hours driving time from the channel ports. It is also an easy day’s drive from Bilbao in Spain. There is also a Motor-Rail terminus at nearby Narbonne and the journey by EuroStar, TGV and SNCF should take about II hours to Beziers from St Pancras, London. The property has a 1000 m2 garden and a private access to the sea through our neighbor's garden by way of a right of passage. The path goes along the outer edge of his property after crossing a little garden bridge and opening a gate and goes down the steep coast line by way of steps and a path and a second gate. 5 minutes at most. Persons with walking disabilities might not want to go down to the water here. But a morning swim in the cove is stunning and private, mostly during the day also. Nearby properties are well hidden by vegetation. The area is a nationally protected area so we have quite a bit of wildlife in the form of wild boars ( not dangerous except to gardens so the gate must be closed at dusk systematically), fox, marten, squirrel, deer, and a lot of birds. The house has a gorgeous view of the sea and evenings on the terrace are marvelously serene. The house is very open inside and light. All the mattresses are new. Towels matching each bathroom are found in either the closets of the rooms close to the bathroom or in the closet in the bathroom itself. There is ample closet space. There is an inflatable buggy board in one closet and some masks and tubes and flippers.

From the streets of its old village, dotted with art galleries, to the two magnificent golf courses (Cannes Mougins and Royal Mougins) ranked among the most beautiful in the South of France, not forgetting starred fine-dining restaurants, here is a place that has many assets. Made famous all over the world by Picasso, who chose to spend the end of his life here, Mougins is actually ideally located to entice clients looking for a luxury villa. It brings together the charm of Provence and the glamour of the French Riviera. Both near to Cannes and its TGV station, Nice airport or Mandelieu airport for private jets, Mougins offers a haven of greenery, a medieval village nestling between pine, olive and cypress trees, 10 or 15 minutes away from the beaches of the Croisette… From its 260 metres altitude, it offers a full panorama of the bay of Cannes, the Lérins Isles and the Alpine Foothills. It’s difficult not to fall under the charm of these small flower-filled streets bordered with old-style houses, with ornate doors and carefully restored stone facades. Around the village of Mougins, luxury villas and apartments are hidden in the heart of their Mediterranean-style grounds. It’s not by chance that Mougins is nicknamed the “garden city”! Mougins In fact Mougins has two faces, with, on the one hand, the culture of a Provençal way of life in the shade of plane trees and, on the other hand, a dynamic town with its restaurants, art galleries and its stars who live here without being disturbed. Moreover, the life of the old village has considerably developed over the last decade, especially since the Classic Art Museum opened. It’s this mixture of styles that makes Mougins unique. And that’s why, apart from Picasso, its charms were enjoyed by Cocteau, Man Ray, Winston Churchill, Christian Dior and Edith Piaf…

    €33 to €43 EUR/night
Like virtually all village row houses, this one is taller than it is wide. It has four levels, with two bathrooms and three bedrooms. Quiet and sequestered, it has a small, stone-walled garden behind the main living level and a roof terrace at the top with a sweeping view of the surrounding mountains, vineyards, neighboring villages and nearby gardens. A grocery store, bakeries, cafes and restaurants, a pharmacy, a cash machine, the Thursday open market and other amenities are close at hand. Yet within ten minutes' walk from the center of town, one finds one's self in the country, among vineyards and hillsides. The area is typical of Provence and the Languedoc, with limestone hills, stone buildings, and characteristic Mediterranean vegetation--cypresses, live oaks, umbrella pines, vineyards and orchards. The house has been renovated and newly furnished from top to bottom. All the surfaces, plumbing, electricity, and windows are new. A roof terrace and "french doors" leading to the garden from the living room have been added. Pains have been taken to preserve the attractive features of the old-style masonry architecture, the original wood beams and exposed stone walls. The house consists of a living room, kitchen/dining room, two bathrooms, three bedrooms, basement, a roof terrace and a small walled garden. It is basically two large spaces per level, with party walls on the sides. At the street level the vaulted basement contains a bathroom, shower room and clothes washer and dryer. One floor above, the main livivng level has a kitchen/dining room in front and a living room in back with double glass doors that open onto the garden. There are a table and chairs in the garden, for easy and pleasant outdoor dining. The level above that has a small bedroom with a bunk bed in the front of the house overlooking the street and a master bedroom with a double bed at the rear, overlooking the garden. Between the two bedrooms is the upstairs bathroom. On the top level, originally a hayloft, is a studio or bedroom. It has a double bed and opens onto the roof terrace. Fully furnished and supplied, the house is livable year 'round; heated by an oil stove, gas burner and wall-mounted electric heaters. There is a stereo tuner and CD player in the living room. The sofa in the living room opens into a double bed, so that there are a total of three double beds in the house, and one bunk bed.

The vacation rental is situated in Bournazel, a village close to the bastide town of Cordes sur Ciel. The house, a converted old barn, has 4 main bedrooms and sleeps 8/10 people. Come and enjoy the medieval hilltop towns in the surrounding countryside, canoe down the L'Aveyron River, go wine-tasting in the local vineyards, climb to the top of a castle, shop at local markets, or simply laze around the pool (shared only with the owners), enjoy the private garden and take in the spectacular views of the valley. Our luxury vacation rental house, is a sympathetically restored old barn next to the farmhouse where we live. The house has retained its rustic charm and there are many old walls, rock surfaces, nooks and crannies, old doors and beams throughout the house. However, it has all the comforts of a modern house with new bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, a DVD player, TV and WIFI. The accommodation consists of 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a fully-equipped kitchen, an outside dining area, a living room, a play-room and a down-stairs WC. There is a crib available. We can provide optional extras such as evening meals, baby-sitting, and a taxi service to local restaurants so you can all enjoy the local wine. The area of the Tarn is beautiful. Drive through vine-yards, fields of sunflowers, forests and explore the beauty and history this part of France has to offer. Dramatic Cathar castles perch dramatically on cliff tops, overlooking the surrounding rivers and valleys. Markets sell local produce which make your mouth water. Our favourite market is St. Antonin market where the movie 'One Hundred Foot Journey' was filmed; And where better to enjoy the countryside then from your own terrace, sipping a cold glass of rosé, watching the sunset over the golden hills. The choice is yours. And we are on site to help you choose. Having lived in New Jersey for many years and having enjoyed the hospitality of our American hosts, we are very happy to return to the favour and make sure that your stay with us is wonderful one. For your travel information, the nearest airport is TOULOUSE, 75 minute drive away. You will need a car.
