The views are extremely beautiful. If you really want some time away from the hustle and bustle then come on down and stay for a while Recharge. Connect with the lovely deep, blue sea. Walk to our beautiful beach, set yourself down on the white sand with a glass of wine at sunset or take a swim in the warm, turquoise waters. Maybe you would like to take a morning hike up the road behind the house to the top of Mt. Eagle. No one will be on that road but you. Look for hidden flowers, tropical plants you have never met before, and glimpses of that turquoise water below. Birds follow you in flight as you walk. It is just you, the mountain, and the sea. Not many other places like this private yet so very accessible. Come and enjoy. Now all of this quiet beauty is inspiring and might be all that you want and need. But maybe you are thinking about venturing out a little further. Well, worry not because just down the North Shore Rd. (walk or drive) sits the coolest place and it is called Cane Bay Beach. A real hidden gem of a destination without crowds and lines, where you can feel comfortable hanging out by yourself or meet up with some interesting characters. The curve of a white, sandy beach invites you to lounge, swim, snorkel, scuba, and kayak. The infamous 'WALL' is a 13,000 foot drop about 300 feet offshore. For all of you divers this is a great destination. Hal and Suzanne of Cane Bay Dive Shop are located across from the beach and will set you up. Kayaks are available for rent also as is snorkel gear. Calvin, the owner of Sprat Net, a little bar/restaurant right on Cane Bay Beach will be happy to chat with you about the island but he always keeps his eye on his son, little Calvin, who dives into the surf after school. Calvin has all of those crazy rum drinks and also grills burgers for you right there on the beach. Across the road is Eat Cane Bay, a wonderful restaurant with food shots, local fish, eclectic specials and a wonderful wine list, as well as some very creative libations. Bartenders at EAT mix some potent island drinks. EAT has a weekly Sunday brunch with great, local reggae music. Down the road a bit further, is the place of 'sunset shot' fame, a little beach hangout and pizza place called Off The Wall. Everything is out in the open. Picnic tables sit in the sand, and the bar is a haven for the lucky ones who left the snow and winds and now call St. Croix home. Listen in on some tall tales as there are a few salty sailors and divers still around.

Eco-cottages just a short walk to the beach and ferry… Self-contained eco-tent-cottages set on pristine 500-acre Water Island – a secluded getaway where you can spend a quiet day looking out over the ocean from your cottage’s private terrace, or take a leisurely five-minute walk down to Honeymoon Beach for some snorkeling and sun-bathing. Our canvas eco-cottages offer a new and unique approach to the Caribbean vacation, giving you the comforts of a hotel room – electricity, comfortable beds and clean linens – with the closeness to nature you feel when camping. Cottages are nestled among lush foliage to offer ample privacy, with balmy trade winds and the sounds of the gentle surf below to lull you to sleep. The Pavillion The shared community Pavilion has the grill, picnic tables and each cottage has their private set of dishes. It is here where you will do all of your cooking. It is outfitted with two full-sized refrigerators, and ample storage cabinets for all of your dry goods. Each guest gets a set of dishes, cups, mugs, utensils and all cooking supplies for creating magnificent home cooked meals. There is a gas grill, coffee maker, stove top and unlimited filtered water. The large picnic table makes it a great spot for socializing with your fellow lodgers, sharing an snack, sipping on a glass of wine as you watch the sunset over the Caribbean or playing a game of cards. No food goes to waste here. Guests pass along leftovers groceries upon leaving and there is also a storage bin full of spices, oils, and coffee. Some wonder how they will feel about sharing their dining and communal area with strangers. That concern vanishes as the new guests are quickly absorbed into the group. Guests share secret snorkeling locations, day-trip experiences and sometimes even a massive avocado that they picked up on a grocery run to St. Thomas. The Bathhouse Located only steps from your eco-cottages you will find the bathhouse with modern and clean facilities for washing and showering. Keeping with the desire to be low impact the water for the sinks and showers is captured rainwater and heated by solar energy. The toilets use both composting and gray water systems and are very clean. This is not a typical campground bathhouse. Being green doesn’t mean you need to give up comfort and cleanliness. The Communications Room We know you came here to get away from it all but sometimes being “off the grid” can add to the stress of your vacation. We hope you leave your work and worries behind when you visit us on Water Island but if you do have to take care of a few things while you are here, having an quiet office overlooking the Caribbean should keep you smiling through it all. Here we provide wireless internet access, a satellite television, a dvd player and movies, as well as a phone if you need to connect to the outside world. Come sit at our desk or cozy up on our couch. We want to help you unplug or plug in – or a little of both. Note: Long distance charges are done via calling cards but wireless internet and satellite TV are free to all guests.
