Armação de Pêra is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Silves. The name 'Armação' means tuna-fishing base. The village used to be called Pêra de Baixo or Lower Pêra to distinguish it from the present Pêra. The village is 21km (13.0 mi) southeast of Silves, 3km (1.9 mi) from Alcantarilha, 1.5 km (0.93 mi) from Pêra and 264 km (164 mi) south east of Lisbon. Every town close by has its own unique accommodations, vacation rentals, villa rentals, condo rentals and apartment rentals.
Not very long ago this town was nothing more than a collection of small shacks and local lodging. Nowadays, the town is mainly composed of blocks of holiday accommodation with the odd vacation rental, condo rental, apartment rental but not with many villa rental options. Meanwhile, the nearby rural village of Pera remains as a reminder of the unspoiled typical sleepy Algarve.
