    The house, according to the owners from 1978 to 2010, was originally designed not by an architect but by a Danish draftsman. We love the layout which permits ocean views from every room and almost every spot in the house. We love the clear cedar planking used extensively in the vaulted ceilings of the great rooms, the dining room, kitchen and bedrooms. We renovated the house in 2017 - installing new flooring, updating the hardwood floors, updating the bathrooms, installing new appliances and counter tops in the kitchen, new ceder decks and rails and updating the landscaping. This is almost a brand new home. The size and orientation of the property provides a particularly private, quiet and scenic setting. We love the views directly across Cowichan Bay to Genoa Bay and Separation Point and to the east the southern tip of Salt Spring Island. From any of the decks on the house a person can watch all the activity going on in the bay. Fishing boats, sailing regattas, whale watching boats and large yachts passing by. A favourite feature of the house is the patio on the lowest level. It provides a fabulous all weather place to sit and watch the ocean and stars during the evening. We call it the Scotch and Cigar Deck - we do permit cigars on this deck. The climate at Cowichan Bay is always nice – even during the rainy and cooler months of Dec to April. Cowichan Valley is commonly referred to as the “Warm Lands” as the weather in the valley during the June to October months is gloriously warm and sunny. The Cherry Point Marina is a private marina located a few hundred yards to the west of the property. It is our preferred place to keep our boat. It’s a well protected harbour and space is usually available. There is a public boat ramp and marina in Cowichan Bay - about a 5 minute drive from the house. Next to the marina is Cowichan Bay village and is a popular lunch spot. The Rock Cod Café or the Cow Bay Pub are our favourite dining spots. For a treat we like to grab ice cream cones at the Udder Guys ice cream shop.

As you enter the home you will face the large open plan living room, kitchen to the right and also the dining room with 14ft ceilings. Off the entrance way is the door to the garage which can house up to four cars on a hydraulic lift, and also a powder room for visitors just before you reach the living room. Off the living room is the Zen feel master bedroom with large ensuite bathroom, and a dual gas fireplace for both the bedroom and bathroom. The master bedroom has a double French door which leads to a small terrace where you can sit all year round and enjoy cocktails, meals or afternoon tea as there is a gas heater on this terrace. This terrace can also be accessed from the living room. The large ensuite bathroom has a Jacuzzi and also a shower, with a double sink. The washer and dryer are also located in this bathroom along with a small TV. Upstairs boasts numerous skylights which is an added feature with one in the kitchen, one in the entrance hall and another skylight in the master bathroom and walk in closet area, never a shortage of natural light in this house. Off the family room is a private, small intimate study/reading room which is quiet and secluded and enjoys another view of the Juan de Fuca Strait. There is a telephone and fax machine in this room as well. There are two bedrooms downstairs, one bedroom has a king size bed, along with a sitting area which includes a sofa bed. There is a desk unit which houses a TV and play station. The ensuite has a very large shower large enough for two people, a tub and one sink. The third bedroom has a Caribbean flair with twin beds for two singles that can be pushed together to make a king bed for a couple, and another gorgeous view of the Juan de Fuca Strait. The ensuite has two sinks and a shower only which also can be used as a steam shower. The home is protected with Price’s Alarm system. There is a door phone which is used when guests arrive to visit. The bell is pushed and the phone inside rings with a special ring to tell you that you have a visitor at your front door.

This area covers the living room, dining room and the kitchen all with great views of the ocean. If you are coming to Victoria for business, this unit is a quick drive to the downtown area either via highway or surface streets. Should you need to be at Victoria General Hospital, the unit is within walking distance at approximately 1 kilometre away. Also, for alternative commuting options, the Galloping Goose and Lochside bike-way and walkway is a less than a 5 minute short stroll which you can use to run, bike or rollerblade to anywhere in the Victoria area. This unit is also a short drive to the new Uptown Center, the Millstream shopping centers and the Langford based shopping centers as well as the array of shopping opportunities in downtown Victoria. Every item in this top floor unit was purchased in 2011 or since. As you enter the unit there is a small restroom on one side and a lovely kitchen with granite countertops with all of the equipment one would need. A personal favorite of the owners is the Griddler on which you can make Panini sandwiches, a steak, fish, etc. And, with the alternate cooking plates, have a flat griddle for pancakes and the like. There is a step up from the living room to the dining room where you have a wood drop-leaf table that easily seats 6 and could seat more. Both the living room area and dining room area have large windows, as does the bedroom, which look toward the Olympic Mountain Range of which you have a partial view. The bedroom's main feature is a queen size bed with a wonderful Temperpetik mattress. The bed has four drawers underneath and there are two nightstands which also have 2 drawers on both sides of the bed. Know that the interior of all of the closets have been professionally designed to maximize storage space. The owners have a storage area separate from the unit, so you will not be denied access to any area. The large ensuite bathroom provides all of the normal amenities. In a closet inside the bathroom are the washer and dryer. All 3 closets have been professionally designed and finished providing significant storage. The floors are wood throughout, with the exception of the bathroom floors, which are tile. There is a good sized private deck that you access from the living room. The deck has lounge chairs and a small table as well as a propane BBQ. The Camden Green building has been awarded the Gold Standard for its construction and use of energy. Hot water and heating is done by a geothermal unit which means there will be plenty of hot water and for those cold days, the heat coming through the floor will keep your feet warm. The owners have provided two notebooks for guests. One has the information on all appliances large and small, while the other provides an array of useful information on things from where to buy groceries, to sites to see the Parliament Building , Butchart Gardens, etc, to an array of outdoor activities from walking tours, to hiking, kayaking and the like, restaurant information and much more.
