The property has trails throughout which are perfect for a nice walk or a bike ride. The trail systems lead to the very popular Galloping Goose Trail. The Galloping Goose is a mostly flat trial 55kms long that extends from Downtown Victoria, through the Westshore, Metchosin and past Sooke. The trail is perfect for long bike rides or long walks through the majestic Metchosin forest. Weirs Beach, which is only a 5 minute walk from the house, is a beautiful sandy beach perfect for both swimming in the summer or beach combing all year round. If you are coming to Victoria for business, this unit is a quick drive to the downtown area either via highway or surface streets. Should you need to be at Victoria General Hospital, the unit is within walking distance at approximately 1 kilometre away. Also, for alternative commuting options, the Galloping Goose and Lochside bike-way and walkway is a less than a 5 minute short stroll which you can use to run, bike or rollerblade to anywhere in the Victoria area. This unit is also a short drive to the new Uptown Center, the Millstream shopping centers and the Langford based shopping centers as well as the array of shopping opportunities in downtown Victoria. Every item in this top floor unit was purchased in 2011 or since. As you enter the unit there is a small restroom on one side and a lovely kitchen with granite countertops with all of the equipment one would need. A personal favorite of the owners is the Griddler on which you can make Panini sandwiches, a steak, fish, etc. And, with the alternate cooking plates, have a flat griddle for pancakes and the like. The kitchen also features a dishwasher and microwave. The owners, who regularly rent similar units when they travel, have worked to outfit the unit with everything that they have wanted/needed in their travels. The living space has a good sized living room with a couch/hide-a-bed, a good reading chair, a 42 inch TV and a blue-ray player. There is Telus Optik as the satellite TV and internet service and yes, the unit has full WiFi. There is a step up from the living room to the dining room where you have a wood drop-leaf table that easily seats 6 and could seat more. Both the living room area and dining room area have large windows, as does the bedroom, which look toward the Olympic Mountain Range of which you have a partial view. The bedroom's main feature is a queen size bed with a wonderful Temperpetik mattress. The bed has four drawers underneath and there are two nightstands which also have 2 drawers on both sides of the bed. Know that the interior of all of the closets have been professionally designed to maximize storage space. The owners have a storage area separate from the unit, so you will not be denied access to any area. The large ensuite bathroom provides all of the normal amenities. In a closet inside the bathroom are the washer and dryer. All 3 closets have been professionally designed and finished providing significant storage. The floors are wood throughout, with the exception of the bathroom floors, which are tile. There is a good sized private deck that you access from the living room. The deck has lounge chairs and a small table as well as a propane BBQ. The Camden Green building has been awarded the Gold Standard for its construction and use of energy. Hot water and heating is done by a geothermal unit which means there will be plenty of hot water and for those cold days, the heat coming through the floor will keep your feet warm. The owners have provided two notebooks for guests. One has the information on all appliances large and small, while the other provides an array of useful information on things from where to buy groceries, to sites to see the Parliament Building , Butchart Gardens, etc, to an array of outdoor activities from walking tours, to hiking, kayaking and the like, restaurant information and much more. There is also a section on what to do outside of Victoria on Vancouver Island. Vancouver Island’s biggest city – Victoria, British Columbia – gets a positive knee-jerk reaction for those who’ve been, usually talking about its coastal beauty, retiree-filled hotels, and a very English air. But with that, the story too often stops.
Yeah, there’s plenty more than that. On a recent stop, I decided to take in Canada’s fittest city on two wheels, and found a city – hilly but manageable – that’s simply more fun when seen by bike. Here’s a few things to consider on how to bike in Victoria.

If it’s not enough, brace yourself for fun paths out of the city: Lochside Trail (to Sidney) and the Galloping Goose Trail (to Sooke). There are a couple of central places to rent bikes or mopeds, including Cycle BC Rentals, a block east of Inner Harbor. The simple free map from the visitor’s center is enough to navigate the trip.
