Punta Mita is a 1,500 acre beachfront village located on the north end of Banderas Bay, about 10 miles north of
Puerto Vallarta,

Humpback whale watching season varies, but is generally early December to the end of March. Often groups of whales can be seen with their young.

If you are not a guest of Punta Mita or hold a reservation at one of its restaurants you will not be permitted access to the resort itself as security is top-notch. Everyone can enjoy the public beach El Anclote which is still a small, typical Mexican fishing village. There are some really good but still very neat restaurants to eat at, with palapas and lounges on the beach available for your use at no cost if you patronize them.
