Abaco Island Rental Guide

Abaco Island is renowned for the waters it is surrounded by. It is one of the few places in the world where you can rent a boat and with a little orientation and instruction, head off into a calm, protected sea of reefs, deserted beaches, fishing grounds and deserted settlements.

Enjoy a grouper burger in a harbour-front restaurant and browse through shops and galleries in a picturesque village. There is a challenging 18-hole championship golf course and good roads allow you to explore the 100-mile-long mainland by rental car. Along the way, you can see historic villages, photograph island architecture and take a hike in a forest preserve with a population of protected wild parrots.

There are billfish tournaments and yacht regattas. You can count dolphins swimming the Sea of Abaco and collect shells on the wide, deserted, palm-fringed and noncommercial beaches. Safe for swimming and snorkeling on a coral reef where you will see an amazing variety of creatures from eels and spiny lobster to waving purple seafans and sea anemones.
