Golden Rental Guide

Golden, BC ID#94258 Golden, BC ID#136710 Kicking Horse Resort, BC ID#202872

Golden is a town found in British Columbia, Canada. It wasn't much of a tourist destination until the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort was developed and started to bring plenty of tourists to the area. Prior to this, it was only on the Canadian Pacific Railway as well as in the logging industry, which is what much of the economy of the town was dependent on.

Today, tourism is a huge industry in Golden and it has definitely helped boost the town's economy. Spend a day at least or two exploring Golden and all the unique sights found in it which also reflects its rich culture. Here, you will find the longest covered pedestrian bridge and the longest freestanding timber framed bridge in Canada, the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge. Plenty of accommodations are available in the area so not to worry. There are lots of condo rentals and  apartment rentals.

The Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge is regarded by the community as a symbol of cooperation because in the year 2001, the building of the bridge became a huge community event. More than a hundred members of the Timber Frames Guild came from the USA, Canada and Europe to work together in building the bridge. What could be more monumental and historic than that? With its accessible location, just near downtown, on the 8th Avenue North, you can easily and quickly take a trip to this bridge.  The waters running beneath this bridge are the waters of the Kicking Horse River which is considered to be a Canadian Heritage River and was the first of the BC rivers to be classified as such.

The strong, wild and fast waters of the Kicking Horse River makes it a perfect place for whitewater rafting. The deep canyons and the beautiful scenery that you can find surrounding the river is the main reason why a whitewater rafting session here becomes even more memorable. A vacation in Golden is indeed perfect because there are also plenty of beach rentals, pet friendly rentals and ski in ski out rentals.

Another famous attraction in Golden is the Edelweiss Village. The Edelweiss Village was built in the early 1990's for the Swiss mountain guides and it continues to be a main attraction for tourists and residents today. Interestingly, tourism actually started to be popular when Swiss mountain guides were employed by the CPR to tackle the mountain trails and guide rich clients paying for the experience. About six Swiss-styles chalets were built for them to help them feel more comfortable while doing their job and the place was called Edelweiss Village.

Another interesting tour spot is the Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf Centre, a facility that promotes the preservation of wolves. Home to about nine wolves, prepare for a close viewing and encounter with one of the wildest forest animals. Spend your 25 minutes on the tour and learn more about these creatures. Who knows? Your fear towards wolves might just disappear after you hear important and interesting facts about them. A photography tour for adults is available which takes about 1 and a half hours, an activity that will allow you to have a close encounter with wolves, with no boundaries, fences or leashes. There's definitely more to learn about wolves than knowing them as wild animals. Golden is the only place in Canada where tourists can actually have a close encounter and walk along with wild wolves. So if you are considering a vacation here, check out these beautiful vacation home rentals and cabin chalets.

Here is just another reason why you should come to Golden. Golden is home to 6 of the biggest and most beautiful National Parks in Canada. These are Mount Revelstoke, Jasper, Glacier National Park, Yoho National Park, Banff and Kootenay. Golden also has its very own provincial parks which are also beautiful on their own. An interesting fact is that Golden is situated right in the middle of the highest concentration of national parks in the whole world. In fact, in a short 1.5 hours drive, 5 of these national parks can be found whereas the last park is found in about 2 hours drive.

The Eagles Eye Restaurant is considered to be the highest restaurant in Canada and it is found at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Have an astouding paronamic view of the Canadian Rockies as well as the Purcells and the highest point of the high Selkirks. What could be more pleasing to the eye than that? While this gives you one of the best experiences of your life, the rates are considered to be affordable.

Some nearby vacation regions include Panorama, Cranbrook, Fairmont, Fernie, Invermere and others.
