Cozumel Rental Guide

Cozumel resort is Mexico's largest inhabited island. This laid-back island is 29 miles (47 km) long and 10 miles (15 km) wide and lies just 19 kms off of the Yucatan Coast.

It's jungle-clad interior and ivory white beaches are surrounded by one of the most spectacular ensembles of coral reefs in this hemisphere. An irresistible array of tropical fruit and fresh seafood awaits you at the many outdoor eateries along Playa San Francisco, Cozumel's longest beach. The westward side of the island is the most developed with banks, markets, shops, restaurants and hotels. The ocean is calm and ideal for swimming, diving or just relaxing in the sun.

The eastern side of the island is more secluded, with very few people living there, and little activity. There are some calm beaches with clear emerald green water. This rockier, windswept east coast can be too rough for swimming. There are at least 20 live reefs close to the shore. These dramatic coral reefs and the unbelievably clear water make Cozumel one of the top diving destinations in the world ... ranked one of the top five scuba and snorkeling sites on the planet.

Jacques Cousteau brought Cozumel to international attention in 1961 with his TV documentary of unusually rich Palancar Reef.

The climate on the island is warm year round with an average temperature of 27 C (81 F). Heavy rains starts in June and continue through October. Expect high humidity during the rainy season. The humidity levels are lower November through May, with an occasional cool evening. However, because Cozumel resort is a tropical climate, the weather can change from one day to the next.

There is great scuba diving and snorkeling around the island. If you prefer to enjoy the marine life without getting wet, watch the rays, coral, and many colorful fish through a glass-bottom boat.

Nature lovers come to Cozumel resort to see giant sea turtles laying their eggs (May to September) and to observe the island's variety of exotic migratory bird life.

This island has it's share of Mayan ruins hidden in the jungles that can be explored by car, bike or foot.
